   Katie B.

"This supplement opens up a ton of possibilities for GMs who love to really dig down into worldbuilding, and also for newer GMs who might be unsure of how to go about creating locations for their PCs to visit. You can tell how much thought and effort went into creating this, and it doesn't disappoint."
   Eleanor G.

"I've always thought that it was a boring cliche that adventures always start in taverns- a vestige of an old era of gaming that needed to be left behind and forgotten...
But this supplement has completely changed my mind.
There's a reason this supplement has risen to Silver in only a day ...
This supplement is an absolute must-have. Stop wasting your time reading this review and go buy it!!

"This is an awesome addition to any game."

"You could run a whole culinary campaign just travelling from one place to another in this book. There are quests, not just plot hooks, but fully fleshed out quests paired with the locations."

Incredible Locations!

Unique. The nine locations built and showcased within this volume have been made from the ground up to provide a unique and interesting experience for your players. From an inn built inside a hag sanctum to what is practically a fortress, from a back-alley eatery to a pirate ship that fell from the sky - no two places are alike.

Populated. Each Tavern, Inn, or Taproom has been filled with fully formed NPCs with specific jobs, attitudes, and a variety of quests for your adventuring party to see to. Care was given to ensure that all manner of peoples were represented within these pages. Over 81 servants, proprietors, peddlers, allies, and villains ensure you never scramble for names again!

Cost. Each establishment is rated on a 1-5 scale (with one incredibly pricey exception) to be visible at a glance, along with the quality and stile of atmosphere, lodging, food, and entertainment on offer. Every copper was accounted for give a realistic and easy-to-use system for long-term stays at Taverns and Inns, or the raucous spending of coin at one of the many Taprooms.

Full Menus. Each location is given a full menu of at least 16 items to choose from including breakfast, dinner, dessert, snack foods, wine, mead, beer, ale, and exotic liquors! Thanks to Carina Tous and Julianne Albano, every Tavern and Inn comes complete with a 1-2 page printable handout with various options on offer! Dine on edible plants in the pleasure gardens, chomp into a leg of lamb flavored by magic, or eat a curry so hot it makes you see a realm beyond our own - totally safe, I'm sure.

Robust Amenities. Far more than a spot to get drunk or sleep the night away, each location has a set of useful and unique amenities to choose from, including: massage, acupuncture, Fey Mud baths, healing services, dog or child care, personal escorts, or even private butlers to see to your every need!

Drinking Games. Several locations offer games of chance or skill, complete with betting and drinking rules. Try not to hack off your toes at Mumblety-peg; est your creativity for a magical reward with Cauldron Connection, or see if your keen eye can make your fortune at Dunk the Dragon!

Make It Your Own!

So many tables. In the 4th chapter of this PDF, 18 unique roll-tables are presented to help you flesh out and construct your own location. Playtested over 80 times by 6 veteran players, no two have ever been quite the same!

Planar Suggestions. Have your party burst into the City of Brass or the maze that is Sigil? Four unique planar locations can help you understand and present such exotic locals to your players - even a planar sailing gambling ship filled to the brim with construct servants!

Delightfully Boozy. 56 unique alcoholic beverages ensure your party will never just down a pint of "stout dwarven ale" again. Try out Black Blood MeadUnicorn Dandy Pale Ale, or even the ludicrously priced Luinemorn Wine

I absolutely love this book. Not only is it full of a variety of places to eat, drink, and be merry, every location has a wonderful supply of NPC and questlines to compliment their menus. My PCs stumbled into a location that has a tavern that they are interested in exploring. Rather than build it out whole cloth, I was able to use one of the ready made locations in this book. Additionally, I was able to incorporate some of the NPC background and quest information into a recurring foil for the party. This book is worth every penny.

This is a very well thought out piece you created there! Can't wait to put it to good use. I just noticed one irritating detail, the "full" and print version have a difference in the cost scale of the Shouting Sail Tavern. One displays one point, the other one only half a point. Which one is the intended value?

In case anyone else stumbles upon this, I got an answer via Twitter:

"The cost scale is intended to be an easy reference for perusing the document quickly and does not affect any of the listed prices and/or services of any locations. 1 and 1/2 are arbitrary in that regard as they both denote "very cheap."

Putting out an update requires several hours of work and redistribution through DMs Guild, so until a fully updated PDF is released, there will be no updates. There is little chance the PDF will be updated in 2020."

This book is phenomenal. The taverns, inns, and taprooms provided are each interesting and dynamic, and the 4th chapter on creating your own interesting taverns is indispensable to a DM. Absolutely worth it; buy this book, you won't regret it!

Rob Twohy can do the conversion for you if you're interested, he is fair about it and has converted roughly over 100 DMs Guild products for other authors.

Hi love the content, what would you say the party level would be for running a few of the quests or are they different for different taverns? Cheers

I left such things ambiguous for the DM, who can determine what level threat the quest actually is. Example: Facing off against a doppelganger may be a CR 3 challenge (the CR of the doppelganger) OR it could prove to be a much more difficult task if the doppelganger has brought on 3 veterans and a War Wizard to protect themselves.

I did not make any encounter in the PDF one that relies upon direct combat so that the CR can be changed to fit what the DM needs. If i had to GUESS, i'd say that most challenges in the PDF should be CR 5-10 depending on what the DM needs for their party.

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
