More Options for Players and DMs with Samurai in Their Games

The Samurai Clans of the Empire stand ready to defend their home, their Emperor, and their honor under the code of Bushido. This supplement includes rules for 5 martial archetypes representing different clans in an Oriental fantasy culture of Bushido: the Bear Clan Striker, Fox Clan Deceiver, Lion Clan Keeper, Owl Clan Yojimbo, and Turtle Clan Stalwart.

The Bear Clan Striker is a master of battle and war. As he grows within his Clan school, he perfects the art of dealing damage, at striking over and over when others would tire, and at leading his comrades into battle.

The Fox Clan Deceiver is a slippery combatant, trained in the arts of deception and misdirection. He learns to feint in order to provide himself an opening, and learns techniques which cause those strikes after feinting to be particularly devastating. He eventually learns to use enemies weaknesses against them to the greatest degree.

The Lion Clan Keeper is a guardian of the sacred places of the Empire and their priests, from temples and shrines to holy forests and lakes. She is particularly focused on fighting against those deemed unworthy to enter, such as fiends, fey, undead, and aberrations, and can call on the spiritual Kami to aid and protect her in battle.

The Owl Clan Yojimbo is a master duelist and bodyguard, perfecting the art of single combat and protecting her charge however necessary. She can lock down a particular enemy by issuing forth a challenge they cannot refuse, and can intercede for an ally when they are most at risk.

Finally, the Turtle Clan Stalwart is a stoic patroller of the shores, always on guard for invasion by horrible oni and other evil creatures from beyond the lands of the Empire. He is tough, and particularly skilled at fighting large monsters, using their size and weight against them while being able to avoid their worst blows.

Really cool addition! As a DM I love the idea of different classes that could be set up to play against eachother in a political/combative play. Really enriches the story possibilities and RP potential! Love the Fox Clan most, makes the players have [...]

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
