DOM Soundlink-Library Module - August 2019

DOM Soundlink-Library Module - August 2019

The DOM: SoundLink-Library Module is a data-module for the Fantasy Grounds Virtual Tabletop software. You will need a copy of Fantasy Grounds to use this item.

This month's edition of the DOM: Soundlink-Library (August 2019) contains over 6400 Syrinscape SoundLinks from all 132 SoundSets from the Syrinscape Sci-Fi Player and all 316 SoundSets from the Syrinscape Fantasy Player, organised Alphabetically and via SoundSet. Also included are lists of “One-Shot” SoundLinks organised by Type.

You will need a copy of Syrinscape Desktop (avaliable from the Syrinscape Website - at least version 1.4.3-20190527) to use the DOM: Sound-Link Module, and you will also need a copy of the (free) DOE: Sound and DOE: Base Extensions for Fantasy Grounds (avaliable from the Fantasy Grounds Forums => Armory => Extensions).

Note that this Library does NOT work with the Syrinscape Online Player, only the Syrinscape Desktop App.

The Library will work with any Fantasy Grounds CoreRPG-child Ruleset (including AD&D2, D&D3.5, D&D4, D&D5, and others) and makes using Syrinscape and Fantasy Grounds seamless. No more swaping from one application to the other and back again because it now can all be controlled from within Fantasy Grounds. The Library contains raw SoundLinks ready to drop into ChatSounds, Miniboards and/or Autosounds, or can even be triggered directly from the Library itself.

Please Note: Due to a limitation in the Syrinscape Product sounds from this Library can not be played on Macintosh Computers.

Full instructions are included in the Library and in the DOE: Sound Extension Manual avalaible with the DOE: Sound Extension.

Additions since last edition (July 2019):

  • 14 Soundlinks
  • Cartoa Outdoors - Fantasy Soundset
  • Entering The Labyrinth - Fantasy Soundset
  • Updates & Corrections to the entire Library

A new edition of the DOM: SoundLink-Library is expected to be released during the first couple of days of each month (provided the publishers of Syrinscape actually release/update new SoundSets) and will contine to add SoundLinks for SoundSets released in the previous month.

A SuperSyrin Supscription would allow every single one of the SoundLinks in the DOM SoudLink Module to work, while a D&D Subscription would only allow those SoundLink related to the SoundSets that the D&D Subscription give you access too. The Library is organised by SoundSet (and also by other methods) and each SounLink has a Note saying which SoundSet the Sound comes from, allowing you to make sure you have that particular SoundSet in your collection.

As you are thinking of purchasing this Module, my advice is wait until September's Edition comes out - there's been a whole bunch a new SoundSet released by Syrinscape this month (since this Edition was released) which will be in the September Edition.

Of course, if you'd really like to support the work that I do you could get this Month's Edition now and September's Edition when its released in early September :-D

So if I want to use this, do I have to purchase the "SuperSyrin Subscription", or can I just get the "DUNGEONS & DRAGONS Subscription"?

Original electronic
Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.
Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
