Conflict is growing on the outset of the kingdom of Camorr but something far worse is happening inside its city walls. Reports of children going missing from the slums have started spreading throughout the city. Many believe they are looking to join the conflict, others believe they have simply run away, but something far worse is at play here. Investigate the disappearance of the most recently missing child and follow the clues to figure out the truth but keep an eye out, while you do so. You never know who you can trust.

The Urchin of Camorr contains over 40 pages of material for a longer campaign. This story can be set into any major city allowing for ease of use for any table. The game is meant for a group of 4-6 players and spans levels 1-5. This pdf contains the following:

Hi David;
I purchased the package (U of C) and am running a group of new players through it Sunday. I will let you know how it goes. Everything looks complete and all the ties seem to connect well. The new class would make an exceptional cleric base character. I look forward to DM'ing and will let you know how it goes. I didn't realize it was so new, and was hoping that the subsequent content was already complete. Do you have a target timeline for the next tier to be ready? Cheers!!!

Not really certain. This took roughly 11 months to get together. That being said, I'd lost all the notes I had for this one and had to start from scratch. The next three chapters still have everything together. The next chapter needs a bit of work getting connections to tie together a bit better, but after that it's just a matter of a few rounds of editing and getting the art together. I'd say earliest would be 3 months but more likely 5-6 months. The good news is, after that, the last two chapters are ready to immediately move into the editing phase and get art together.

I do hope I can get it together as fast as possible for everybody, but I do look forward to hearing how your group does with this adventure.

Hey David;
I took a new group thru the first phase of the adventure on Sunday and they loved it. We played for about 4.5 hours and they got thru Grif Peak and back to town in that time. The opening was awesome... they struggled with letting the prisoners go versus turning them in, and I played-up the moral dilemma causing a really cool opening scene. After that everything went pretty smoothly. The 2 scarecrows had my party totally afraid... they felt a more sinister presence in the abandoned field and skipped right by the encounter. The final encounter between the centaur and the veteran captain was so cool. The group came up with a very innovative solution to satisfy both NPC's in the end I rewarded them with a couple of your magic items for completion. I think there is enough content for 2 more 4 hour sessions, maybe 3. The party achieved enough exp from encounters and some I rewarded for their handling of the opening and final act to reach level 2 (exactly) = 1500xp total divided by 5 party members...See more

Dude, that is great to hear! I really wanted there to be some moral gray areas that parties have to deal with. I felt like it gave a bit more life to the encounters. I'd love to hear how they managed to appease both NPC's at Griffin's Peak as well. Also, I'll be honest, I didn't do exp calculations at all for this so the fact that they got to level two at the end of the first dungeon is a happy coincidence. I do think that, if they take the time to do 100% of all the side quests as well as the main story related items, they should either be level 6 or be right near it. I'm wanting to do it that way so the next chapter of the story can feel more organic when it starts.

I hope the next few sessions go just as good and I would love hearing more from you as your party progresses!

This is in the VTT category, but I don't see in the description that it comes with a Fantasy Grounds module. Does this include the Fantasy Grounds part?

I have this marked as VTT because I've included high resolution maps that can be used for virtual tabletop devices. I haven't included a .mod file for this one.

I want to start off by saying this is fantastic work! I was wondering, however, if there is any chance of getting the maps included as separate files for use in a VTT. The artwork is really nice and I would like to be able to show it off to my players at a better resolution than what I can get in screen grabs from the PDF.

I don't see why not. I've got the large scale versions of the the maps without the numbers saved on my computer. I'll look into getting them added on here for you tonight.

I've got a zip file added to this now so you should be able to use the maps for your VTT games now.

Seems to be missing dialogue lines and a map of camorr itself, is this intentional?

I'm not sure what you mean by dialogue lines. I'm going to blame that one on a lack of knowledge. If you fill me in on them, I'm about to start working on the second chapter to this story, I can make sure they are included.
As for the map, I left it out for two reasons. The first being that this is my custom homebrew setting and I'm trying to be certain that I don't break the rules for the site of adding custom setting related content. Honestly it's this one mostly out of fear of having it removed as such. I'm still sort of new to posting content on here and don't want to step on toes. The second reason is so people can plug it into any city map they want to use and either use the name I've given or the name of the city they want.

Any connection between this product and the Scott Lynch novel The Lies of Locke Lamora also set in Cammor and dealing with children in the slums?

Honestly, the connections are purely coincidental. I pulled the name from a name generator and I was trying to find a fancy name for the title. But I have read the Gentlemen Bastard first two books. It's been years ago.

From the sample file I can tell that that it definitely isn’t related all that much to the Locke Lamora books, although the PDF likewise refers to inhabitants of Camorr as “Camorri” like the books do. It’s a very popular fantasy series so it will probably continue to draw these comparisons; the title “an Urchin in Camorr” sort of sums up the first book’s introductory chapter. Considering it came out of a name generator, I’d suggest thinking about changing it to something more unique, because it otherwise seems like a good adventure!

(Also there’s a section that says “a nobel’s missing child” where it should be noble’s, just letting you know)

I plan to update the title so it doesn't make that connection. I don't want people expecting one thing when they download it and get something different. Also, thanks for catching the typo. I swear it's been through 4-5 rounds of editing. I thought we'd managed to catch all of them.

These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.
Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
