The Book of Dragons: Volume II

ADD TO WISHLIST >

The Book of Dragons: Volume II is the sequel to The Book of Dragons for 5th Edition, introducing even more draconic options for both players and Dungeon Masters in the world of 5th Edition. Though it functions as a sequel, The Book of Dragons: Volume II does not require its predecessor for use.

This book explores the possibilities of hatching and raising dragons, as well as lairs, wards, and hoards that might be guarded by the powerful beasts, and a multitude of other options for Dungeon Masters to explore. Players can also find rules for dragon-based subclasses, including three wizard Arcane Traditions and a Dracolyte prestige class. However, the bulk of this book (and its main purpose) is a bestiary, including an abundance of new dragon-like creatures (such as amphitheres, dragon eels, drakes, and linnorms), eleven new dragon types (six gem dragons and five ferrous dragons) at all twelve age categories, and rules for catastrophic and planar dragons.

Please leave a review after purchase so I know what you like and/or dislike. This way, I can modify the supplement's contents or make corrections as needed, and I'll have a better idea of what to do for future titles.

Hello, I need a rule interpretation for the Dragon mystic feat (p. 73). For the third bullet point: Is this meant to add 1 spell at 3/day and 1 at will for 2 total spells or a single spell of either 3/day or at will? The wording feels a bit nebulous.

Hey champ, I love this book. I really do, this is a fantastic book full of many many great ideas and options. I have one problem though, which is the Fighter: Dragon Samurai. It is straight up plagiarism, and it's such an ugly black mark against an incredible work. I can see you've only ever uploaded one file and never made any rectifications, can I persuade you to either remove and/ or just make it a stub on flavour that refers you to use Xanathar's and reflavour it? I don't quite know how the SRD and DM's Guild works with referring you to a non-SRD product like Xanathar's.

I'm writing an extended review on all kinds of products to use in a Tyranny of Dragons, and your work is some 7k words in my review and I'm heartbroken that I have to bring it up. Everything else I have to say is so positive, so this request is coming from a place of love. I want people to buy this book and to love it just like I do.

Was it intentional to not include spoken languages for the dragon player race?

Just a small request - I'm loving this book so far, friend got it for me and I'm already beginning to implement some for my campaign - this pdf is very long and doesn't have any bookmarks. While creating a Tome Emerald Dragon, it was a bit inconvenient to have to keep scrolling all the way to the table of contents so I could re-click the hyperlink that would take me to the relevant pages. Adding bookmarks for easier perusing would be very much appreciated :)

Hey, Marc!

Oriental dragons aren't my cup of tea, but I would consider a third (much shorter) installment of the Book of Dragons specifically for oriental dragons if there was enough demand for it.

Hey Percival,

Right now there aren't any plans to do a third book. In the future I might do smaller supplements of single dragon types, but I don't think there's enough content to do another entire book.

Hey Steven,

At the moment it doesn't look like a print book will be happening. If it becomes possible in the future, I'll be sure to say so in the description!

That's a little sad to hear im.trying to amass a physical library for my campaign so that I have the books in front of me and my players who roll high enough lore or what have you to figure out what they are

Thanks for the heads up! I'm going to start DMing in the coming weeks and i want to use FG (Fantasy Grounds) so I'm going thru my wishlist and asking if the authors in question have FG planned or not.

Hey Robert,

Rob Twohy finished the Fantasy Grounds version of this book a while ago, I just haven't gotten around to linking it until now. The link is now in the description. Thanks!

So, after looking through this book, I noticed some of the stat blocks don’t have a transparent edge around them, was wondering if this is just my media viewer or if it is the file itself?

Hello Conner. I was wondering if there was a way for you to help me with a little issue. I'm trying to download the pdf, but whenever I download it, it always results in a network error. No other pdf I get off here does this. I was wondering if there's any corruption you may know of.

Hi Micah,

I'm sorry to hear that! It is a pretty large file (but not as large as the first Book of Dragons if my memory serves me well), so that may have something to do with it. You could try hard-wiring a connection to your router or making sure your other devices aren't connected to your internet. Hopefully you are able to get it to work!

Hey, Nick!

I'm sorry to hear that! I don't see anything wrong on my end, see if you can troubleshoot it by following this link.

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
