CCC-UK-3 The Tainted Grove

Everyone in Moonfern Ford knows to avoid the Tainted Grove, a place of darkness and evil amidst the sylvan beauty of Cormanthor. When a young hunter goes missing in the forest, things in the village take a dark turn.

The Tainted Grove is a four-hour adventure for 3-7 characters of level 1-4, balanced for five 3rd-level characters. It is the third part of the Elvenflow Saga, a series of standalone adventures set on the banks of the Elvenflow Estuary near the shore of the Moonsea. These adventures premiered at the UK Games Expo and are designed to evoke the feel of the classic UK series of modules: strong stories, rich on folklore, with plenty of scope for roleplaying.

The Tainted Grove was designed by Richard Green and features a cover by Stacey Allan. This adventure premiered at the UK Games Expo in Birmingham on June 2019.

Yet another solid tale in the UK series. The village of Moonfern Ford fits in best with the previous adventures but could also be a stop in the middle of AL00-02 Lost Tales of Myth Drannor. Like the previous UK mods, it's combat design will challeng [...]

This creepy little module is an unusual one, where the adventurers have the chance to solve a mystery. The monster in the cupboard situation can be made goofy and less frightening to make a kid-friendly adventure, or much more frightening if the fey / [...]

I played this at UK Games Expo and it was run by the author - Rich Green. It was such a great adventure. The story has such a creepy 'X-Files' feel about it, but also provided us lots of opportunities to laugh. Exploring the village was really a [...]

Ran this adventure for a group of new and experienced players last night and everyone had a ball. Like the rest of the UK series it centers around a little village with a variety of fun NPCs to roleplay and fun little thematic encounters to engage the [...]

Original electronic
Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.
Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
