Any plans to update this to include specific NPCs (Holy Uldra or Gorodan Ashlord as 4e examples) or "typical" generics from 3.5 (Typical Silver Flame Priest, Typical House Deneith Sentinel Marshal, etc.) or is that outside the scope of "Creatures and Constructs"?

On the note of updates, now that Rising from the Last War is out, any plans to cull things covered there, follow their lead on interpretation (i.e. living spells as constructs not oozes, symbionts as treasure, etc.) or fill in their gaps (more Magebred and Horrid animals)?

Or do you think you're done now that there is official support?

Hi David. Thanks for you comment.

I'm waiting until Keith's Exploring Eberron comes out in order to decide whether/how to update this. I'm open to suggestions, though.

In terms of NPCs, that's mostly out of the scope of this project, but you might want to check out my NPCs of Eberron: The Dragonmarked at https://www.dmsguild.com/product/298418/NPCs-of-Eberron-The-Dragonmarked —that does have things like a typical Sentinel Marshal as well as some unique dragonmarked NPCs.

I'm also working on another, larger, book of Eberron NPCs that is more focused on named characters from earlier editions. I expect that will be out sometime in May.

Have you had a chance to circle back to this, now that Keith's book is out? From what I heard, he covered mostly high-level monsters and aquatics, leaving lots of room for the "normal" Eberron stuff.

Personally, I'd love to see more living spells and symbionts. And I like having both your smaller, faster Iron Defender (fox) and the official Iron Defender (wolf) versions. That increased variety in constructs just makes sense, although the names being the same is confusing.

This is still a great resource, thanks Stuart.

Hi David!

I've started to, but I'm juggling a few projects at the moment... I'm hoping I'll finish an update in the not-too-distant future, but I keep getting additional ideas.

There are some things that I'll keep alternate versions of (like the Iron Defender—it makes sense that there would be variations), but I'll generally be renaming them to avoid that confusion.

I think it would be very good, if you do decide to update anything, to look at the Daelkyr again. Rising tweaked a good number of things, and lining up with those tweaks would be good for consistency in these impossible boss creatures of nightmare and chaos. Aberration instead of fiend, and the new interpretation on Alien Mind are what I'm changing for myself.

Definitely on the list, though I'm not personally a fan of their decision to cast Daelkyr as aberrations.

Really enjoying the book so far, having just bought it, but I think there a couple of formatting issues that have cropped up:

Page 8 Young carcass crab heading should move to next column with stat block
Page 46 Some text isn't aligned properly with other and is seemingly floating
Page 47 image only and cropped off at the top of the page
Page 48 is completely blank for me
Page 54 has just one line of acknowledgement only
Page 53 and 55 images look they have been cropped from something else, perhaps linked to above error.

Hopefully these can be addressed easily enough.

This should all be fixed. Thanks for mentioning it. I apparently had the wrong version available.

Thank you that seems to have fixed a number of the issues. Although I still have a blank page 19 and page 47 art looks clipped off the top.

This is absolutely awesome. I can see why people give Stuart such high praise for his 5e Eberron conversion work. The quality of the doc itself feels like an official piece of D&D work, and the content is extraordinary. There's something for every kind of Eberron campaign in here. I feel really fortunate to have this monster manual supplement for my party, so they can feel even more enmeshed in this campaign setting as they battle creatures that feel very native to it.

Just curious, how come the Daelkyr are listed as Fiends and not Aberrations?

The Daelkyr are natives of Xoriat. In 3.5 terms, they were outsiders. Their creations are aberrations, but that doesn't make them aberrations themselves. I see them more along the lines of concepts given form... which says "fiend" to me - much like the quori. Also, I think spells like dispel evil and good should work against them.

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
