Monster Loot Vol. 3 – Mordenkainen's Tome of Foes

ADD TO WISHLIST >

I want to loot the Demogorgon!

When brave adventurers face the dangers of the world, they want something to show for it. This supplement provides individual loot for each monster in Mordenkainen's Tome of Foes, as well as a basic crafting and harvesting system that works well with 5th Edition Dungeons & Dragons.

With this supplement, these brave adventurers will be able to craft the hide, teeth, and claws of their enemies into dangerous weapons and equipment that is sure to mark them as legendary heroes of the realm.

Examples of Loot

Salamander, Frost

  • 1 Frost Salamander Hide. Can be crafted into a set of light armor (2000 gp, 60 days). Requires attunement. While wearing this armor, you have resistance to cold damage.
  • 2d10 Frost Salamander Teeth. One tooth can be used as the tip on an arrow or a crossbow bolt. Ranged attacks that use ammunition made from these teeth deal an additional 1d10 cold damage. After the ammunition has been fired, it loses this property.
  • 2d6 Vials of Frost Essence Shards. Can be used as an additional material component when casting spells that deal cold damage. When used in this way, you deal an additional 1d6 cold damage when you cast the spell.

Star Spawn Mangler

  • 1d8 Star Spawn Mangler Claws. Can be crafted into a dagger (150 gp, 9 days). On a hit, you deal an additional 1d6 psychic damage with this weapon.
  • 1d6 Vials of Star Spawn Blood. When consumed, you gain resistance to cold and psychic damage for one hour.
  • 2d6 Vials of Star Spawn Mind Fluid. Can be used as an additional material component when casting spells that deal psychic damage. When used in this way, you deal an additional 1d6 psychic damage when you cast the spell.

@Anne G: By chance will you be making these for the Monster Manual Expanded, I, II, and III?

If there is a demand I might, but it also depends on the author of the MME allowing me to make the volumes.

Hey, love the supplement. Just wanted to point out a tiny format error I noticed today. Pg. 36/46, the title for "Kruthiks" is in the Howler paragraph. I think this messes up the table of contents header for Kruthiks too. Looking forward to more monster loot!

Hello. Any suggestions on how much of this I should give access to my players? I obviously wont be giving them access the monster loot, but as far as instructions on how this will work. I know I will give them access to the tool information and assisting in checks. THANK YOU FOR MAKING THIS ITS IS AMAZING! I bought the MM, VG, and MTOF and I absolutely love them! I look forward to more of your work in the future!

Hi! I'd say show them a monster you know they aren't going to fight and run through the loot so they can understand what exactly it is they are dealing with. Set up fictional scenarios, like if they killed an owlbear or an imp, and explain the process they would have to go through to get the items on the monster.

Definitely tell them if they need to cook or otherwise process it first. Any item that has the "If consumed..." text in the beginning, needs to be processed using a set of tools.

The information written below each monster is made for both the DM and the players. When the players have looted a creature, you can just copy and paste the information written at its entry and give it to them. If your players enjoy the mystery of it, you can make it so they don't know what the loot does until they test it but you should definitely talk to your players about this first.

So glad you're enjoying the series! Thanks!

This looks really cool. Do you plan on making a combined version sometime or should I just get them individually?

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
