This supplement is the culmination of our passion for medicine and gaming.
It features nine stories, written by excellent DM's Guild creators, fully illustrated and presented in a familiar yet unique layout. This book is the ultimate adventure anthology for introducing disease in fantasy gaming.

The Malady Codex offered an introduction into the realm of magical diseases. Written by medical students with a love for tabletop roleplaying games, it was inspired by the vast array of diseases, and the medieval myths that once surrounded them.

"Deep in each civilization’s roots, there are myths, remedies, and folklore, all revolving around the ailments that affect its people. When each Dungeon Master wants to expand on the details of the societies that unfold before their very eyes, tools that spice up the process become a vital weapon. This supplement will hopefully become one of them, as DMs become inspired by the grim, epic or mundane conditions of the human body and mind.

Do not underestimate diseases. Part of the Dungeon Master’s art is to be able to stir feelings up in their players, and few human conditions could accomplish that better."

We still echo the same sentiment. These adventures each have their own character, but represent the same storytelling values as the Codex.

In this book, you'll find:

  • Nine disease-centric adventures that stand on their own as stories with a beggining and a climactic ending, ranging from level 1 to 15.
  • A guide to connect these adventures into one cohesive story with the world at stake.
  • A plethora of new monsters and magic items, tailored for each adventure.
  • Eight pre-generated level 1 characters, full with stats, abilities, backstory and roleplaying tips, to bring out the best of a world of pestilence.
  • Beautiful custom art for each adventure that captures its essence and inspires DMs and players alike.
  • Custom made maps for each adventure.
  • Handouts to bring the game to life.

Let your players become the beacons of hope in this infected world.

Do you guy's by any chance plan on making a plauge based class or two? it would be such a welcome addition to your content to have a class based around treating and/or spreding diseases.

Ok, haven't run any of these yet, but up front I'm frustrated over one little issue. Rise of the Druid's Curse conveniently has approximate play times for the module, so I was thinking "great, this book has estimated times, this will help in choosing which one to run." Flip over to Viral Village, and it has nothing on estimated play times. That's inconsistent and frustrating, especially because I haven't run any yet. Have the same general info for each section.

It is an entirely different book. While the first three featured diseases to use in your games, this book features nine adventures that were based on the maladies, but are ready to play, just like the adventures found in the official books.

[Video Review: ] These 9 setting-neutral, disease-themed adventures cover the first three tiers of play, and can be run as oneshots OR a full campaign! With 9 authors lending their voices to this project, Malady Chronicles is a unique book that your game group is sure to enjoy! Check out my video review linked above!

If you think there isn't anything dark about plagues and diseases in the Realm of D&D well have a gander at this.. This is an Epic tale of adventures that will give you the heebee jeebees. hope yall enjoy I did...

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.
Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
