AE01-09 Weathering the Storm by Jarrod Taylor

Prove your salt and sail into the eye of the storm.

The storm awaits in the ninth adventure of the Across Eberron: Convergence Manifesto adventure path with this adventure for 5th level characters. Written for use with either Eberron: Rising from the Last War or the Wayfinder's Guide to Eberron by Keith Baker.

Adventure Summary: Provost Faurious has procured an Aethervane, an astrolabe-like instrument tied to Kythri that's used to navigate manifest zones. Unfortunately for the Provost, the Riedran ship that was carrying the Aethervane across the Sea of Rage to deliver it to their agent in Regalport fell victim to piracy. The player characters are dispatched to Regalport to meet up with the Provost’s agent there and petition High Prince Rygar for more information about the stolen cargo. When the characters dock in Regalport, they meet the Provost’s contact and are ushered into a meeting with High Prince Rygar. Wishing to show his intolerance for piracy, Rygar charters one of his own ships for the party’s use as they investigate the stolen cargo. Upon arriving at the crash site of the stolen cargo, the party is set upon by a fleet of pirates known as the Wind Whisperers. When things turn sour, a new surprise reveals itself as an unnatural storm rolls in, a stolen airship at its heart. The Wind Whisperers have found a way to convert the Aethervane to serve their own purposes. Seeking aid from Rygar and House Lyrandar, the heroes chase after the pirates by sail and airship. As they do, they are bedeviled by the Chaos Fleet—strange ships sailed by an even stranger crew that are drawn to the Aethervane and the chaos it brings. In a final airborne confrontation, the party boards the rogue airship and retrieves the sought-after artifact, with a chance to salvage or sink the stolen vessel in the process…

Across Eberron ( is an Eberron community project that aims to tell the stories and exploits of heroic characters in Eberron and introduce players--new and experienced--to the wonderful lore and rich history the setting has to offer. Edited by Will Brolley, Wayne Chang, and Laura Hirsbrunner, along with executive producer Keith Baker.

About the Author: Jarrod Taylor has loyally served the Daughters of Sora Kell for over a decade. When he is not consumed in the world of Eberron, he can be found in Southern Ohio where he is a manager and projectionist at a movie theater. Jarrod is a Forever DM and has taken great joy in shifting the default setting his players explore to Eberron. He is thankful that his spouse is willing to tolerate his tabletop obsession and frequently joins in on the games Jarrod runs when they both aren’t spending time playing dinosaurs with their son. This is his first attempt to bring his Eberron ideas to new players and fans of the setting.

Oh my goodness. What fun. Pirates, airships and much deering do. My players have been very vocal about how much this has been one of the best adventures they have ever played, even having a 'D&D swagger' the following day due to the feeli [...]

Overall: A highly enjoyable, swashbuckling adventure that probably could benefit from some mild restructuring to allow more time to develop characters. Running it again, I might de-emphasize Rygar and emphasize the Lyrander/Wind Whispe [...]

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.
Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
