The Villa Heist

ADD TO WISHLIST >

The Villa Heist is a self-contained adventure that will see the party infiltrating a costume party at the island getaway of a renowned alchemist. The goal: find the alchemist's vault and clean it out. Plan, execute, and escape from the most daring heist ever attempted.

My pitch to Players:

Do you want to play a heist adventure? Of course you do. What's that? You're not a rogue? Well this heist is more than sneaking in through windows and knocking out guards! You'll have to infiltrate the villa under false pretenses and pass yourself off as a party guest... You don't like talking to people? Well what do you like? Hitting things huh, well there's plenty of that too. If I wrote this right (and I did) there's at least a little something for every kind of player. Just give it a chance, you'll see.

My pitch to DMs:

You know how running an adventure takes a lot of work? You have to draw maps, roll up NPCs, look up stats, and consider the creative ways in which your players are going to break everything. Well I've done all that for you. I've even condensed all of the possible skill rolls a character can pass in each section into nifty little tables so you don't have to go digging through the text. If you've got a player's handbook, a monster manual, and 15 minutes to read this cover to cover you're ready to run it.

This adventure is designed for 4 to 6 characters of level 3-5 with an average level of 4. The adventure is designed to be completed in a single 4-hour session though it may not be possible to see everything.

The combat in this adventure can be considered to be of easy difficulty for an experienced group and medium difficulty for beginners

What this adventure includes:

  • An original Dungeons & Dragons adventure written for the 5th edition
  • Player and DM versions of the map
  • Suggestions for adapting the adventure to different audiences and player groups as well as suggestions for adapting it into an existing adventure
  • Page references to the PHB, MM, and DMG for every monster, mechanic, and magic item not explicitly described in the adventure
  • Notes on how to roleplay various NPCs
  • 5 side quests with recommendations for Forgotten Realms faction tie ins.

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
