After crash-landing onto the Material Plane, a strange, otherworldly ship brings with it an unexpected wave of piracy, hideous creatures from the bottom of the Trackless Sea, and a notorious foe who has been awakened from the deep, intent on destroying the world as you know it.

The adventurers must set sail along the Sword Coast, fending off the pirate attacks while putting together the fractured puzzle that will reveal the true villain.

Love this adventure! I am DMing it with some friends, adding to it a bit of dark using Cthulhu Mythos. I like it really a lot!

This one looks sooooo interesting! I've been checking the internet for review and all of them are positive.
Since Shore Of Dreams, I have been a fan of your work.

Only one problem: I would really really love this as a hardcover book. It's way easier for me to manage and devour than using my laptop with a clumsy pdf.
I have already checked local print shops what they can do for me, but prices range from 5x to even 10x the price of the pdf (which I also need to buy as well).
This turns out to be extremely expensive and I cannot justify the purchase.

Is there any other way I can get it printed for a decent price and shipped to western Europe? I absolutely don't mind supporting the creators, but not at those kind of price ranges ;)

You could try online printers such as Printed or Mixam? I'm afraid I'm unable to offer physical copies myself.

Hi everyone!

This looks really awesome! However, I've read a few times that this is can be heavy on the prepwork side. How so?

Depends what kind of game you want to run! There's a lot of information in the campaign, and Chapter 3 is a sandbox of the Sword Coast and Island Kingdoms. I recommend taking it a session at a time, and only prepping what you need to. Nothing wrong with asking the players in advance what they envision completing next session. Thanks for your swift response! I found the comments about prep work contrasting the praise you got about your adventure and how complete it was.

I was curious what sort of prepwork was being talked about. I'll join the discord, thanks!

Trying to get this to play nice with roll20. Do you happen to have non-grided versions of the maps?
Customer avatar
JVC P July 07, 2020 7:47 am UTC
CREATOR
I'm afraid not - I've been importing the gridded versions into Roll20 for my home game. Normally it's fairly easy to resize the maps to fit the roll20 grid. I'd recommend scaling up the grid to at least 100x100, resizing the map so the grids align, trimming down the excess grid, then reducing the grid opacity to 0 so there's no confusion.

Hope this helps!

Zero. You can always print a personal copy through a local or online printer though!

In chapter 2, Waterdeep, is it intended that the Conch was taken to Umberlee's Cache, via the Malenti Ilanquor, at the order of Abeline, once she had it in her possession? Sorry if that doesn't make sense, trying to figure out Ilanquor's role in getting it to area U4.
Customer avatar
JVC P June 28, 2020 11:12 am UTC
CREATOR
That’s correct. Abeline’s clergy dropped it into the cache, Ilanquor hid it away in area U4 for the coming sahuagin.

Hi there! I just got this and am super excited to run this with my group. One question though, they are currently at level 5, and I was wondering if there would be any major issues to run through this campaign as is without too many modifications?

Thanks a lot!
Customer avatar
JVC P June 25, 2020 2:50 pm UTC
CREATOR
Shouldn't be an issue - chapter 1 is likely to be quite easy for them, but that chapter really just sets the scene for what's to come. I'd suggest you start the adventure at the Crash Site, giving them a brief introduction about why they are there beforehand. That should help to move things along.

Hi, I hope it's okay to ask here. I'm running this adventure for my group and they're almost level seven now. We've had a great time so far! But I'm a bit worried about the last chapter where the party face-off with Slarkrether and the mind flayers. Are the PCs supposed to bring backup/allies to this fight, or can level 10 characters really beat the elder brain/kraken combo? (my group only has 4 players too) They already asked Zelifarn (the dragon) to help them, but I'm wondering if it would be a good idea?

Also when should the kraken teleport into the ruins, (when it's below half hitpoints, when it has 20 hitpoints left etc)?

If anyone who's run this campaign sees this, please share how you ran the last chapter, it would be a great help.

CREATOR
Hi Tanja,

When the characters first meet Slarkrethel and Zellix'Phor, the elder brain is [SPOILERS] almost undefeatable. This is because of the numerous spellcasting brain jars scattered throughout Ascarle protecting the elder brain from harm. In order to actually defeat this foe, the characters must first explore Ascarle and destroy the brain jars. During this exploration, characters should be given the opportunity to gain 1-4 more levels (1 for all jars, 2 jars, or each jar).

Given that you're running for only 4 players, I'd suggest letting them level up at least twice. But anywhere up to 6 times would probably be fine (additional levels could be earned for killing the mind flayer assistants to the elder brain). I definitely would allow allies. In my current campaign, the characters are taking an undead dragon turtle and a storm giant into the fray with them.

With regards to when to teleport into area 70, that's mostly left up to you. The guidance on page 150 is:

Do the maps come as their own image files for printing or for use on a VTT? Or are they just part of the PDF.

I can see from the comments that DMsGuild won't allow you make this Print on Demand.
I'm curious as to what their reasons are? This seems like an awesome product.

You know, unless I missed some sidebar somewhere, I'm pretty sad that the pirate king and all the pirate lords don't have their ships detailed. Like... it's a pirate adventure... The ships are what makes it that. They should be fundamentally part of the NPCs/villains in my opinion. Any chance you'd be willing to come up with "DLC" to buy to add all the pirate lords' ships (names, descriptions, capabilities, etc)? It just feels like a really big oversight to me to leave those out. It feels akin to leaving out their ideals, bonds, and flaws.
Customer avatar
JVC P May 10, 2020 12:05 pm UTC
CREATOR
Perhaps it’s not clear in the adventure - when the pirate lords bend the knee to Tentrix, their ships become part of his floating lair! Hence, those pirate lords each have quarters there.

Reading the bit on Luskan, shouldn't all the wizard's be in Luskan? If you read the bit in SCAG the tower has 5 spires, and the center hosts the archwiz, and the other 4 are split between the other 4 cardinally direction towers? Hopefully that makes sense?
Customer avatar
JVC P May 10, 2020 7:40 am UTC
CREATOR
Absolutely the members of the Arcane Brotherhood are based in the Hosttower of the Arcane in Luskan! However, I’ve assumed that unlike us, the wizards aren’t in lockdown. They’ve got research to do; people to meet, places to see. Because of this, I’ve made the assumption that they travel around Faerûn, or at the very least the Sword Coast, to conduct research.

That said, if, in your game, it makes more sense for them to stay in their tower - then that’s what they do!

Yeah I read that .txt but I am also not super familiar with DrivethruRPG. Can I just have a single copy made, without worrying about other people ordering prints of it? About how much does it cost? Alternatively if someone wanted to sell me a hard copy I would be up for that as well.

You can yeah, it should cost about $30 plus shipping. Unfortunately, no one can sell you a hard copy. It violates the T&Cs of the DMsGuild. You have to print one yourself.

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.
Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
