I really wish there were a hardcover or softcover version. I read a bunch of reviews and got really excited about this before realizing it's digital, which is unplayable for me unfortunately. I'll have to go with my second choice instead. Well done to the creators, this looks super fun and I hope I get the chance to play it someday.

Love this module, using it in Foundry VTT and all of the maps and everything went in really easily. I do have a question. To make it a little easier do you have a master list of all of the monsters and things the module contains so I could start gathering tokens?

Hi Jeremiah,

Unfortunately, I do not. There is so much going on in the campaign it would take quite a while to collate that info!

Before purchasing, are Monsters, spells, conditions, etc linkable like in adventures purchased from D&D Beyond?

No, D&D Beyond is a wiki whereas this is a pdf - much harder to implement that in pdf format!

Loving this adventure and my party is loving it too (I homebrewed a little to add a flashy end to chapter 1, Turned Bren into a party NPC early in the chapter after his rescue, then into a mindflayer as suggested, had him lure the party into a trap, introduced Thiliossk as a teaser BBEG, had them escape, and had Thiliossk command Bren, some thralls ((mutants little nerfed, but party was lvl 4 so)), and finally lead a siege on the jarl's hold as the final arc of the first chapter, leaving the map in Bren's dead hands) but, I'm getting confused a little bit about the chapter layout after this. In chapter 2, are they expected to reach and stop all of the attacks, as in the timing is always attacks after the party arrives? And the side quests are used after that or before the attacks (I assume before)? Which then leads me to chapter 3 with a ton of cool side quests, but do I/should I, run them concurrently with chapter 2? There are a ton of quests a hooks, which ones would you suggest as most important to keep the...See more

Hi Darrian,

The adventure is deliberately flexible so that you can run all three cities one after the other, or just one of your choice. The side quests take place mostly in chapter 3, but again you can weave them into chapter 2 if you prefer. In terms of help guides, there is no such thing, but there is a Discord and a facebook group:

I keep looking at this adventure as possible follow up for my current group of players which would really fit the setting as far as I can estimate so far but "sadly" their chars are already level 6+ and might end up even higher at the end of the current campaign. As the character group itself is so fun with a really healthy dynamic we would like to continue playing these characters.
Is it possile to "scale" the encounters up to the respective level the group or would that totally break the adventure at some points as these high level characters have due to their arsenal of spells to many resource so any obstacles would be just to easy solved with a spell or two ?
Customer avatar
JVC P March 15, 2021 11:57 am UTC
CREATOR
You can absolutely scale the encounters up! I think a few others have done so in the past. I'd suggest letting them burn through Chapter 1 as written - there's not a huge amount of combat in there. Once you get to the pirate attacks on the Sword Coast you might want to consider swapping in some higher CR foes.

Glad you like the look of it! All of the maps, artwork, handouts etc. are in their own files, so it should be compatible with any VTT. I used roll20 to run it the last time I played through and it worked perfectly!

Browsing through the last chapter and I noticed Slarkrethel is CR 25, but in the chapter before that, the PC's only reach level 10. Will they be tough enough to handle him for the bossfight?

I know I'm asking this before reading it thoroughly. We're still in Chapter one and having a grand time! Very crazy and fun campaign so far.

Level 10 is the minimum - in the games I've run they've been at least level 14 by the time they face Slark. If you're nervous about it, you can dock Slark's HP, or remove their legendary resistances!

Hope you enjoy the rest of the campaign!

I'm trying to wrap my head around Chapter 2. I do understand that the pirate attacks happen the night after the PCs arrive and then there's some quests to do AFTER, but in some of the Development text suggests the PC discover more than just the impending pirate attack during the less than 24 hours or so they have. For example, Castle Never mentions something about the PCs discovering the Abolethic Sovereignty as the cause of the pirate attack. I do realize they can visit the Temple of Oghma based on wanting the decipher the code on the map, but I'm a bit stumped for a reason for them to check out the other locations (particularly the black dragon lair in the floating earth mote).

Tangential Note: My PCs are sailing back to Neverwinter after completing Chapter 1 and they actually have 2 pirate maps: the original from the wreck of the Golden Crown (with Waterdeep circled) and similar one with Neverwinter circled. The latter was brought by a replacement party member (they lost one of their number when...See more

I've assumed that the characters don't just wait around for the pirates to attack, and that they're interested in why they might be attacking the city. The locations on the maps are major locations that the characters might decide to visit while they're investigating this. Of course, it might be the case that your characters just want to sharpen their swords and sit in their tents!

Ah, thanks, JV. I think I'm picturing the situation a little bit clearly now. If they don't get it into their heads to check around the city for reasons of why/when the pirates might attack, then maybe the Lords Alliance/Neverember can suggest it to them.

Probably one last thing: how they would even know to check out that black dragon lair (for example)? Is it a known location that a black dragon lives there? (I know it's easily seen, being an earth mote floating above the city).

Sorry for the questions. It's been a fun campaign so far and I love the module. Just a little unclear on the pirate attacks.

Thanks for that. Just an FYI, I got the same errors again with Firefox and Edge on my computer but it seemed to download and open fine in Chrome on my tablet. Not sure what the issue is there. Maybe the DMs Guild platform has issues with those two browsers.

I know content creators dont have a lot of control over what gets made Print on Demand, but what can folks who really want something like that do to get the DMs Guild to consider this for print? Cuz, uh, if I could have this on my shelf I'd buy it no questions asked.

Hi there! Really interested in running this one with a new party, but we've just finished a little introductory adventure in Baldur's Gate. Do you think it'd be possible to swap Neverwinter for Baldur's Gate with a bit of fiddling? Any suggestions on how to make that work?
Customer avatar
JVC P October 20, 2020 1:15 pm UTC
CREATOR
Hi Holly! Neverwinter, Baldur's Gate, and Waterdeep all make an appearance in the adventure! Are you hoping to have the characters based in Baldur's Gate rather than Neverwinter for chapter 1? If I've understood that correctly, it would really be as simple as swapping out Lord Neverember as the patron of the quest for Ulder Ravengard, as he is also a member of the Lord's Alliance. The characters can then travel to Gundarlun from Baldur's Gate - a longer journey than if they started in Neverwinter, but not insurmountable. Consider using the travel montage approach.

If you wanted to simplify it even further, have Ulder Ravengard seek them out and recruit them into the Lord's Alliance to help Neverember, and have a Lord's Alliance wizard teleport the characters to Neverwinter!

Hope this helps :)

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.
Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
