Ancestral Weapons - Nautical Upgrades

A nautical themed add-on the bestselling Ancestral Weapons with new upgrades, traits, personalities, and NPC's

A captains rapier, having cut down countless pirates terrorizing trade routes, the obsidian maul wielded by a monster hunter, or a sahuagin leaders trident that glows with imbued power. These are the weapons of the sea.

Ancestral Weapons are powerful heirlooms gifted through the generations that scale up in power as your adventurers perform heroic deeds. As these weapons grow, they unlock new and more powerful upgrades such as inflicting damage caused by the elemental energy trapped inside, causing a foe to flee in fear when struck, or allowing you to deflect even the fiercest of blows.

This add-on adds new upgrades, traits, personalities, and NPC's for use alongside the original Ancestral Weapons supplement.

Perfect for use in your nautical campaigns, or alongside the Ghosts of Saltmarsh adventure module, inside these waterlogged pages of this supplement you will find:

  • 40 new nautical themed upgrades to bring the seas of Faerun to your tabletop

  • 10 Ancestral Traits to add more theme to your weapon

  • 6 Ancestral Personalities through which your weapons will guide your actions

  • 3 Non-Playable Character’s, each wielding powerful weapons, crafted from the Spirit Point system, to add into your campaigns.

The product is augmented with characterful artwork, with a stunning cover by Stasyuk Stanislav, and fantastic internal artwork from Forrest Imel, Rick Hershey, and Fat Goblin Games.

These Ancestral Weapons carry the weight of the oceans with them, are you strong enough to turn the tide of battle?

I love the product, I purchased it for Fantasy Grounds, but I had a question about one of the upgrades. It reads like this:

"Boarding Strike (level 2)
You leap into combat striking out at your enemies as you land.
As an action you can perform a long jump, upon landing you take the attack action with this weapon."

How is this any different than just jumping into combat? What extra benefit does this upgrade grant?

We might need to crack open the PHB to settle this, but at a glance it looks like the whole point is to let you get some extra movement. The long jump is part of a special action, not your movement. So you should still have the rest of your movement to do with as you please. Good for getting fighters past those last 10 feet separating them from their targets.

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.
Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
