In the wide worlds of D&D, guards are rarely just guards, bandits rarely just bandits, and cultists never just cultists. Even if they bear the same weapons and don the same armor, each has their own stories—and quite possibly some tricks up their sleeves, in combat and in life.

Xanathar’s Enemies and Allies illustrates those differences to help DMs create more interesting stories and campaigns. This supplement provides stat blocks for all of the subclasses detailed in Xanathar’s Guide to Everything. You can now move beyond the simple knight stat block, using the Banite conqueror or cavalier charger instead. Tired of using the bandit captain yet again? How about presenting your players with a more unique challenge, like the Luskan swashbuckler or the shadow thief mastermind?

In addition to the 60 new stat blocks to challenge and delight your players, this product presents Forgotten Realms power groups and organizations for their characters to fight, join, or puzzle over.

This is a DMs Guild Adepts product. The DMs Guild Adept Program was started and is managed by Wizards of the Coast. It brings together some of the best talents creating for the DMs Guild for creative development. DMs Guild Adepts products are identified by the gold ampersand logo.

I love this supplement and have used it extensively. Does anyone happen to have any recommendation for another product that has similar stat blocks for other class NPCs like the PHB?

In the preview the Forester Guardian and Forester Slayer both have longbows based on a d6 damage when a longbow does d8.

Any chance this will be updated with the correct longbow damage? Also, I'm very interested in purchasing but since this is primarily a book of stat blocks I'd like to be sure there's a fairly high degree of accuracy as well as responsiveness from any of the authors.

Thanks for letting us know about the damage. I don't think we will do a new version until we have a few more changes to make, but when we hit enough of a critical mass to pay someone to create a new version, I will do so and make sure everyone know of the update.

Thank you Shawn. i just bought this and am looking forward to reading it! I can imagine updating it probably is more work and time consuming than I realize and I'm happy to make my own adjustments.

Small change recommendation on p.24: "Enemies of Undeath" implies Revenant Blades are something they are not - opposed to undeath. Perhaps "Champions of Undeath" would be a better subheading?

Will it be AL legal?

They are monster/NPC stat blocks, so they are as AL legal as any other monster not in the MM or other official WotC supplement.

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.
Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
