AE01-07 The Silvered Edge of Twilight by Ed Chivers & Will Brolley

When a simple job gets hairy, can you follow the trail to the edge of the world?

Pursue a thief in this two-part adventure of the Across Eberron: Convergence Manifesto adventure path, optimized for 4th level characters. Written for use with either Eberron: Rising from the Last War or the Wayfinder's Guide to Eberron by Keith Baker.

Adventure Summary: The characters arrive in Thaliost, a city rife with unresolved tensions from the Last War. Through danger and discovery, the party will discover that the Lammanian artifact they were sent to escort back to Sharn has been stolen. They’ll have to track down the thief, who jumps onto the Five Nations Express, House Orien’s flagship lightning rail service, in a bid to escape to the Eldeen Reaches and open a gate to apocalypse.

Across Eberron (www.acrosseberron.com) is an Eberron community project that aims to tell the stories and exploits of heroic characters in Eberron and introduce players--new and experienced--to the wonderful lore and rich history the setting has to offer. Edited by Wayne Chang, Laura Hirsbrunner, and Anthony Turco, along with executive producer Keith Baker.

Content Warning:

This adventure begins in Thaliost, a Thrane-occupied city that formerly was part of Aundair. This region is deeply divided by political, religious, and national differences—sometimes violently so. While the city is not intended to have real-world analogues, adventures in this region will likely encounter themes of occupation, resistance, and the conflict between religious and secular forms of government. (See the “Tensions in Thaliost” sidebar on page 10 for more information.)

The Eberron campaign setting has always painted the world in shades of gray, a universe in which few are blameless and answers are rarely simple; as such, the same factions that are heroes in one campaign can be villains in another. The version of Thaliost depicted in this adventure represents how the authors imagine it in their own Eberron games—but this is by no means an endorsement of any side of these conflicts, and the factions in your Eberron may be very different than those in this supplement. You are encouraged to adjust accordingly!

Additionally, the threat of lycanthropy is a driving element in this adventure's plot. According to the core fifth edition books and the lore of the Eberron campaign setting, lycanthropy usually destroys a person's values, personality, and ability to reason, essentially turning  them into a monster. From this perspective, the contagion of lycanthropy threatens the very existence of humanity (See the “The Lycanthropic Purge” sidebar on page 9 or more information). This adventure is written in accordance with default lycanthropic lore—as such, if you and your players consider all lycanthropes to have more humanity and freedom of choice, you will likely need to adjust elements of the story to account for it.

Before running this (or any) adventure, we encourage using safety tools such as the TTRPG Safety Toolkit (by Kienna Shaw and Lauren Bryant-Monk) or Consent in Gaming (by Sean K. Reynolds and Shanna Germain) to discuss your group’s boundaries and comfort level with these and other challenging topics.

About the Authors:

Ed Chivers was introduced to Dungeons & Dragons by well-meaning friends as a teenager in the 90s. He discovered the world of Eberron in 2006 as a player and now runs regular games for friends. This is his first foray into writing adventures. He lives in Sheffield in the UK, and is a father to two children who both seem to have inherited the dice-rolling gene.

Will Brolley’s first exposure to Dungeons and Dragons was when he and his older sibling fooled around with the 1981 Basic Set. He began playing in earnest with 3.5, and has been DMing since the mid-2000s. After discovering Eberron in 2009, he never ventured into the Forgotten Realms again. When not creating monsters and slaying players, he works in the healthcare industry and walks his dog all throughout the frozen, barren landscape of Canada. His DMsGuild work includes the gold-bestselling Eberronicon and the electrum-bestselling Archetypes of Eberron.

Hi Jacob - this one is priced a little higher because it's a two-parter and it's a longer adventure than the others.

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
