Explore Saltmarsh like it's 1981 all over again!

The original U series of adventures were legendary, so much so that Wizards of the Coast has brought it back with the new Ghosts of Saltmarsh hardcover. Return to where it all began with these 20 pregenerated characters straight out of the original module!

Each one has been carefully updated for 5th edition as a playable character using the same rules as the Adventurer's League. These characters are on form fillable character sheets provided by Emmet Byrne!

Don't care for pregenerated characters? That's ok too! All the characters are presented for DMs to use as NPCs in the Ghosts of Saltmarsh campaign. Each character comes with a stat block, and all the narrative information a DM could need to add these colorful NPCs into their campaign. Use them as sidekicks with the rules from the D&D Essentials boxed set or Tasha's Cauldron of Everything (also available on D&D Beyond)

For both players and DMs, you'll find a randomized table of Saltmarsh trinkets, two new backgrounds (the Dock Worker and Saltmarsh Artisan), and tables for the randomized magic items found in the original U1-U2-U3 modules.

At the end of the book you'll find information on how to update these characters to use their original stats instead of the standard array and on how to bring these characters into your local Adventurer's League (adapting Grayhawk deities to Forgotten Realms ones for certain characters, as an example).

Thank you once again to Emmet Byrne, for providing the form fillable character sheets. This product would not be the same if it weren't for those sheets!

While you're at it, check out our other titles!

Perfect for helping with my dive into the Saltmarsh adventures! I did find a small error... Elaine is listed as having a flail on her record sheet but in her write up she holds a longsword... Other than that excellent stuff! [...]

Exactly what I was looking for! I'm running Ghosts of Saltmarsh for a group of new players, and was looking for thematically appropriate pregenerated characters so that we can get right into the story. I especially like that each character has a char [...]

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
