Welcome dear reader to Hamund’s Harvesting Handbook, written by none other than I, Hamund Holderhek! But who am I you ask?

Well, I am an adventurer at heart, a writer by passion, and a harvester at trade. I have travelled the many planes of the multiverse in search of adventure and story (for more of those stories, pick up any copy of “Hamund’s Harrowing Histories I-XXXV”).

Through my life I have fought and defeated just about every kind of creature you can imagine: I have tussled with treants, skirmished with sphinxes, and even engaged in fisticuffs with a fomorian or two. Never being one to let something go to waste, I always took my trusty hunting knife to these creatures and had a look to see what they had to offer. I have spent many years writing down my findings and anecdotes, and I now present them to you less seasoned adventurers so you may soak in my wisdom.

Yes, what you hold in your hands right now is a helpful guide to harvesting the creatures that a typical adventurer may face. You’ll learn not just how valuable a roc’s guts are, but also which way to twist your knife in order to extract them. The natural world is filled with riches just waiting for bold people like us to take them!

Good luck and good harvesting,

-Sir Hamund Holderhek, O.B.H. (First Class), V.A., N.K.P.

This book aims to act as a handy reference for DM’s with loot hungry players that just want to carve up anything they have killed. It provides a monster harvesting loot table for every single unique monster in the 5th Edition Monster Manual. These loot tables are easy to reference and contain every piece of information your players could need when they tear their fresh kills apart. It also possesses over 200 new and unique craftable items to be made from your harvesting adventures, and all the information you would need for them. There are of course rules for both the harvesting and the crafting, and a few extra bonuses strewn in here too.

Everything has been written with balance in mind, but you are of course feel free to rebalance anything in this guide to suit your own table, or feel free to message me at driftersgameworkshop@gmail.com or hit me up on Twitter @drifterworkshop to discuss anything in this guide.

Features:

  • A loot table for every single monster in the Monster Manual, with flavourful descriptions of items that DM's can use as plot hooks for small side quests and adventures.
  • Over 200 craftable magic items, made from the materials your players harvest from their kills.
  • A pickpocket/trinket table for humanoids.
  • A new background, feat, and tool kit specifically for harvesting.
  • 6 NPC's you can slot into your campaign to provide crafting and merchant services to your players.
  • Printer friendly version for easy hard-copy referencing

Love the product. My players love the extra detail of harvesting parts to make items so they don't have to deal with the long process I have created for them to buy such items. I have eliminated the "magic item shop" from my worlds for anything more rare than common. I figure why would a businessman buy your +1 Longsword that will cost hundreds of gold and keep it secure until some guy comes in with the ready cash to buy the darn thing? I think the magic shop is just a place my rogue characters would want to rob first.

Anyhow, enough with the butt kissing. There is a problem I see and want clarification on. The mob of murder hobos I DM for just killed a Mind Flayer. They successfully harvested the brain. In the description of the Helm of the Illithid you say it grants Telepathy out to 120 feet. Now that sounds like the monster ability the manual says allows conversation. The spell ability, which is the far more common use in magic items, doesn't allow two way communication but the range...See more

Hey Scott thanks so much! Never get tired of butt kissing haha.

And its definitely the Monster Manual version, essentially identical to the Mind Flayer's one

A good read but it is kind of off having the harvesting skill for dragon be nature and the skill for fey be arcana...

Hi there, I have converted this content for the Foundry VTT platform (https://foundryvtt.com/) for my own personal use. I was wondering if you wished to collaberate to make a full release of this?

I would really love a printed version of this book.
Would it be possible to add a rear cover page to the PDF? That way I could print it myself as a hardcovern though some online service.

Does this book contain the Miscellaneous Creatures from Appendix A? If not, is there any plans to include it in the future?

Thanks for your time.

Unfortunately it does not as the large majority are just real animals. I may conglomerate them into a small supplement in the future, but there's no hard promise on that

Excuse me, this supplement is amazing (I bought the Volume 1, 2, 3), but it seems that in this book there's a missing crafting item.. It is the "Potion of Mind Flayer Resistance" from the Grimlock harvesting creature.. It is a mistake? Or am I blind?? I can't find it anywhere in the Crafting chapter..

You're not blind, it's the only mention of it in the pdf. It's also not in the other books there is however a quest for the brain ingrediant in volume 2. Guess you'll have to make up what it does, perhaps consuming gives advantage when saving against mind flayers

Wonderful resource, I think I am going to plan to move from Monster Loot to this series. I do have a question, however, do you have supplements for creatures that appear in other campaign settings, or only the 3 main monster books? I do enjoy that Monster Loot incorporates all releases, although it is probably easier because it is not as detailed.

Just the three monster books at the moment. I may make a supplemental version that covers the random creatures scattered here and there eventually though

on page 116 of volume 1, I believe there are two errors:

Bolt, +1 (has crafter as "Leatherworker", but should it be "Blacksmith"?)

Boots of the Winterlands (has crafter as "Alchemist", but should it be "Leatherworker?)

Awesome Product (both so far and looking to snag the 3rd soon)

I did have one question about the spell "Hamund’s Harvesting Hands", how is a PC supposed to know what CR a things is...ever?? Let alone cast at higher level to encompass a higher level critter corpse.

I initially thought maybe your intent was to have them use the asses part of the skills relating to harvesting, but this spell eliminates the need for that skill roll.

I iz confuzeleded....but then again I am also old and SEE Nile. ;)

Does the dragon wand work like the other dragon items? Its requirement just repeats the rare version for me.

"if that spell attack hits, you also deal extra damage dice of that damage type equal to the spell attack bonus granted by this item." - could I get some clarity on this line, from the Dragon Wand.
Customer avatar

Basically it has a spell attack damage bonus equal to 1, 2, or 3 depending on the rarity of the wand

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.
Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
