Welcome dear reader to Hamund’s Harvesting Handbook, written by none other than I, Hamund Holderhek! But who am I you ask?

Well, I am an adventurer at heart, a writer by passion, and a harvester at trade. I have travelled the many planes of the multiverse in search of adventure and story (for more of those stories, pick up any copy of “Hamund’s Harrowing Histories I-XXXV”).

Through my life I have fought and defeated just about every kind of creature you can imagine: I have tussled with treants, skirmished with sphinxes, and even engaged in fisticuffs with a fomorian or two. Never being one to let something go to waste, I always took my trusty hunting knife to these creatures and had a look to see what they had to offer. I have spent many years writing down my findings and anecdotes, and I now present them to you less seasoned adventurers so you may soak in my wisdom.

Yes, what you hold in your hands right now is a helpful guide to harvesting the creatures that a typical adventurer may face. You’ll learn not just how valuable a roc’s guts are, but also which way to twist your knife in order to extract them. The natural world is filled with riches just waiting for bold people like us to take them!

Good luck and good harvesting,

-Sir Hamund Holderhek, O.B.H. (First Class), V.A., N.K.P.

----------------------------

This book aims to act as a handy reference for DM’s with loot hungry players that just want to carve up anything they have killed. It provides a monster harvesting loot table for every single unique monster in the 5th Edition Monster Manual. These loot tables are easy to reference and contain every piece of information your players could need when they tear their fresh kills apart. It also possesses over 200 new and unique craftable items to be made from your harvesting adventures, and all the information you would need for them. There are of course rules for both the harvesting and the crafting, and a few extra bonuses strewn in here too.

Everything has been written with balance in mind, but you are of course feel free to rebalance anything in this guide to suit your own table, or feel free to message me at driftersgameworkshop@gmail.com or hit me up on Twitter @drifterworkshop to discuss anything in this guide.

Features:

  • A loot table for every single monster in the Monster Manual, with flavourful descriptions of items that DM's can use as plot hooks for small side quests and adventures.
  • Over 200 craftable magic items, made from the materials your players harvest from their kills.
  • A pickpocket/trinket table for humanoids.
  • A new background, feat, and tool kit specifically for harvesting.
  • 6 NPC's you can slot into your campaign to provide crafting and merchant services to your players.
  • Printer friendly version for easy hard-copy referencing
Reviews:

Hey, i noticed that on page 64, for Manitcore, you have the value of Manitcore Tail set at Value, and the Weight set as 10gp. So what is the weight of it?

Hi, sorry about that. It is 12 lb. An update will be coming for Volume 1 in a few weeks where I clean up a lot of these errors. Thanks for understanding.

I love this Guide; I use it all the time.
Quick Question, there is a table for all the items in the published books. However, there is no table for things that are not. Is that going to be coming later or is there a reason for not adding it!
Thanks for the Great Guide!

Hi Matt, thanks for the support!

The table for published items is mostly there so that I didn't have to copy paste info from punlished WOTC sources. Originally I was going to include a table for the craftables in Hamunds but decided it was unnecessary in the end. I may end up putting one in when I find the time.

Hello, I really want to buy this book. It looks very helpful, especially with my players. But how will it be with the Volo's Guide? Will it be an extra book or an update? And will people who have the book already get it?

This may be a long shot, but any chance of making this available as a physical book as well? I know I'm in the minority on this, but I do better with print books than digital-only; I find things faster, remember them better, and enjoy them more.

Thanks for enjoying the book. Unfortunately no physical version is planned, for logistical reasons with DMs Guild. Would have loved it though. The best thing to do is to take the ink friendly version and go to a printing store.

Fantastic product with one major caveat to it.

I like running and playing games in low fantasy settings. That means while the majority of the fantastical beasts is great and quite useful, in fact granting me campaign ideas based around crafting and harvesting, there is the issue of the mundane or lack there of. I do believe that an expansion (since there are miscellaneous creatures in each of the major Monster expansions or near as I can tell) which details such creatures may be in order for those whom maybe wondering how they might be able to harvest or use the parts of lions, winter wolves, elephants and even giant spiders for example. But that is my only concern with the product as it stands, I would wholly recommend it to any dm who has an inkling of running a survivalist/resource deprived inspired game.

How do you decide crafter hiring fees? I know you said that it is separate cost but I'm wondering how you personally would manage that?
Customer avatar
Jeffrey Y May 30, 2019 9:33 pm UTC
CREATOR
There's a few section in the DMG that covers the costs of businesses and things, I would use that.

Alternatively, I would go with 1 gp a day for a +2 proficiency crafter, then increase by 1 for each proficiency level above that. Thats just a quick and dirty one.

What does the Mote of Dual Nature do? Is it simply a way to replace either a Mote of another elemental as an ingredient?
Customer avatar
Jeffrey Y May 23, 2019 9:29 pm UTC

Its just for resale. Since Mephits are too low CR and come in such high numbers, giving them a useful harvesting material wpuld potentially unbalance things.

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.
Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
