Krinkle Firetouch’s Guide to Magic Items: Volume II

ADD TO WISHLIST >

Krinkle Firetouch is back with a new guide to magic items originally created for the D8 Night Podcast campaign.

In classic Krinkle fashion, you will find your fill of magic items that range from serious to silly alongside Krinkle’s own color commentary. There are of course a few magic weapons, but a magic outhouse, gem juicer, and even a loaf of many sandwiches as well. Like all of Krinkle’s arcane creations, the items in this guide are far from predictable.

The guide also includes rules for items that attune to a party as well as a few examples (Gerry and Jenny’s Gem and Junk Juicer, Fresnel, and a Spell Squirrel).

Finally, the guide includes 3 magic items sets with set bonuses that unlock as more items in the set are found. These sets include: The Gear of Mechanus, the Inventor’s Kit, and the Trappings of the Huntress.

Magic items in this volume:

Beeswax Candle
Bellicose Bracers
Blackwood Bow
Bow of the Twist Limb Grove (+ a new 3rd level spell infection)
Box of Booming

This is a follow up to Krinkle Firetouch’s Guide to Magic Items Volume I and I have other Krinkle Firetouch’s guides to more specialized items like maps and bags online and in the works. This guide encompasses the items I wrote for my homebrew campaign since around this time last year. Be sure to check out all of those guides and all of my other DM’s Guild titles: https://www.dmsguild.com/browse.php?author=Will%20Mayer&test_epoch=0&affiliate_rem=1639543

I’ve done my best to balance the items and make the wording for the effects clear by matching the wording conventions of the DMG and PHB when possible. That being said, I wrote this guide by myself based off my homebrew notes and this is the first version. All the folks I would usually ask to edit the text are players in my homebrew campaigns and some of the items in this edition have yet to be doled out, so I was unable to get much feedback on the wording for the items that haven’t been introduced yet. Some of the items have been play tested in my campaign, but others have yet to surface, so I am certain that there are some errors that will be addressed in version 2. Feel free to add to the discussion here or contact me about your favorite items, stories about how the items worked (or didn’t work) in your own campaign, wording questions, revision suggestions, or other comments.

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
