AE01-04 Living Legend by Will Brolley & Mark Navarre-Jones

The epic tales of the ancient Dhakaani Empire are more than just stories.

Complete the tests in the fourth adventure of the Across Eberron: Convergence Manifesto adventure path, optimized for 3rd level characters. Written for use with either Eberron: Rising from the Last War or the Wayfinder's Guide to Eberron by Keith Baker.

Adventure Summary: The characters, members of the Clifftop Adventurers’ Guild, have been tasked with acquiring the Chains of Mur’taal, an artifact tied to Thelanis, by their guild handler, Lhara. This artifact is the latest in a series that Provost Nigel Faurious has commissioned the Clifftop guild to retrieve for him. The adventure starts when the characters arrive in Rhukaan Draal via Orien caravan. They’re given a chance to explore a small portion of the city before they head to a local bar to meet their contact provided by Lhara. Accompanied by a local guide, they make their way to the Seawall Mountains, where they’ll have to follow clues and their intuition to find the Valley of the Hero, which conceals the artifact that they’ve been hired to obtain. In order to earn the artifact, characters must first pass three tests laid before them by the Story: The Test of Courage, the Challenge of Wisdom, and the Trial of Honor. Once they finish the tests and collect the artifact, the party heads back toward Rhukaan Draal. But there are Marguul forces in the area, and they don’t intend to let the heroes escape with a priceless piece of their folklore…

Across Eberron ( is an Eberron community project that aims to tell the stories and exploits of heroic characters in Eberron and introduce players--new and experienced--to the wonderful lore and rich history the setting has to offer. Edited by Wayne Chang, Laura Hirsbrunner, and Anthony Turco, along with executive producer Keith Baker.

Will Brolley’s first exposure to Dungeons and Dragons was when he and his older sibling fooled around with the 1981 Basic Set. He began playing in earnest with 3.5, and has been DMing since the mid-2000s. After discovering Eberron in 2009, he never ventured into the Forgotten Realms again. When not creating monsters and slaying players, he works in the healthcare industry and walks his dog all throughout the frozen, barren landscape of Canada. His DMsGuild work includes the gold-bestselling Eberronicon and the electrum-bestselling Archetypes of Eberron.

Mark Navarre-Jones is a chaplain and mental health professional with a bad Dungeons & Dragons habit. He lives in the Metro Atlanta area with his wife and three cats. Mark hosts a weekly Eberron game with his wife. He serves as DM to the group and often brings his real-world knowledge into his game experience, crafting stories that incorporate themes of moral ambiguity or social strife. In addition to his own game, he and his wife often spend time playing D&D or board games with nearby friends.

The handling of Darguun and goblinoid culture was interesting, and the conceptualization of Thelanis working through storybook logic was intriguing, however the execution of the main portion of the adventure feels flawed. Essentially, the idea t [...]

I'm running the Convergence Manifesto series with a group of experienced, mostly-Pathfinder players who were interested in trying out 5e. I appreciate the way the series has emphasized social interactions and survival rather than combat, and this [...]

Darguun is a favorite Eberron adventure zone of mine and purchasing Living Legend I was eager to see how the Across Eberron team handled the kingdom of goblins. The adventure does well at introducing the players to the realities of the developing natio [...]

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.
Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
