Battles, Brawls & Belts

ADD TO WISHLIST >

Step into the arena, and the world of "combat-entertainment"!

Not every legend culminates in a dark dungeon or mage's tower.  The drama and pageantry of pro-wrestling collides with the world of adventurers in Battles, Brawls & Belts, your guide to arena combat, and all of the culture and business that comes with it.

Inside these pages you will find...

  • Twelve new subclasses, each as deadly on an adventure as they are in the arena.
  • New grappling options, like throws, takedowns, and submission holds.
  • Build and maintain arenas, and run your own combat-entertainment promotion.
  • Get the crowd behind you with the Momentum system, letting you pull off amazing maneuvers to shock and awe.
  • Build your persona, reinvent yourself, and establish your signature moves!
"Battles, Brawls, and Belts contains something for just about every D&D fan. Personally, I was a fan of the grappling moves in the supplement, as they provide a bit more variety to the grapple mechanic than simply decreasing movement speed. Different submission moves and throws have different effects, and they can be used even outside of a gladiatorial arena. The guide is also exceptionally well-written and designed, and is well worth the $9.95 cost." ~ Christian Hoffer, Comicbook.com

PURCHASER
Hey guys!

My first actual purchase on this site was this Battles, Brawls, & Belts supplement. For the most part, it's awesome. There are quite few typos here and there, and a couple of the rules/explanations are ambiguous enough to require DM interpretation -- but this is expected, and for a price of $10 it's hard to complain about minor problems like those (I'm a content editor at my day job, it's in my blood to read text actively looking for errors and I'm sure that the average reader wouldn't be too bothered by them).

Unfortunately, there is one glaring issue with this PDF in reference to the Druid subclass that makes the subclass impossible to use:

On page 17, the Druid "Circle of the Root" subclass is introduced with this text:

"While all other things eventually end, the forest that shall remain forever. When nurtured and protected, there is nothing that can stop the roots from spreading. The druidic Circle of the Root believes..."...See more

CREATOR
Isaac and I are mortified that a copy-paste error like that made it through! I'm TERRIBLY sorry that it's impacted your enjoyment of the document. I'll have an updated version up shortly, but I'll go ahead and provide you with the info immediately.

Taking Root
Starting at 2nd level when you choose this circle you can spread roots from your flesh into the ground you walk on. As an action on your turn, you spread roots into the ground to pull energy from the natural environment around you for one minute. While rooted, your speed is halved. As a bonus action you recover hit points equal to 1d6 plus half of your druid level. You are immune to being knocked prone while your roots are in place. You can use this feature a number of times equal to your Wisdom modifier (minimum of once) and you regain all expended uses after a long rest.

We're prepping a quick 1.1 update to go up so this is included for everyone, and we'll try to give the full document a sweep to improve some typos and...See more

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
