Artificer

Suggested Price $1.99

Hello and welcome to my first published work on the DMs Guild. This is a work in progress, and I appreciate any feedback we receive. Thank you for your patience.

This artificer is drafted with crafting in mind regarding base class abilities, working up through archetypes that allow you to further your crafting prowess, enjoy construct companions, or downright shenanigans.

This document was created using the Homebrewery.

If you're wondering what makes this different than the UA Artificer:

This Artificer was designed by deconstructing the crafting rules present in the Core 5e books + Wayfinder's Guide to Eberron, in an effort to make a class which continuously makes things, stuff, and other bits and bobbles.

Thank you so much.

**UPDATE as of 4/1** and it's not a prank :)

Version 1.1 is updated. I hope it clears up some of the language of Ardent Crafting and Infusions. In addition, I pulled around some abilities based on feedback. I'm certain this won't be the last version update :)

As always, please let me know what you think, and I hope this class brings your table as much joy and shenanigans as it does mine.

**This Product is in playtesting. Please, help us playtest by leaving a review below. Currently, we are playtesting the Homonculist in my homegame, and I plan on updating with feedback from this path.**

***updates coming as of 3/29***:

-expect printer Friendly version by or before April 15th

-3rd level Alchemist Ability should specify that *common* consumable magical items no longer degrade, as this does not interfere with the 17th level ability. This correction will reflect in the player printer friendly version and an updated version by April 15th.

-rewording of Ardent Crafting may be necessary for clarity.

______

**3/31 Update**

Editing for clarity, tightness, and balance in progress. Please expect this next version by 4/1.

Changes--

Ardent Crafting proofing and clarity.

Infusions proofing and clarity.

Specify Alchemist's consumable common items no longer degrade at 3rd level.

Specify that the materials Alchemists convert to gold are non-magical, non-living raw materials with a gold cost associated with them.

Homonculist's Volatile moved to 15th level, specifying advantage needed. If both results would hit, an additional damage die is rolled.

Crafting Pack details added.

I can no longer leave reviews here, but this is a great class. I wrote a review on my blog.

"tl;dr: Marsie's take on Artificer is less complicated, more open-ended and encouraging of shenanigans-based play than the current Unearthed Arcana playtest Artificer. If artificers in 5e are at all interesting to you, get thus, pay her a nonzero amount, encourage further development. This is a class I would happily allow in my game, and ask 5e DMs if I could play. I also want to start porting it to B/X."

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
