AE01-02 Live Another Day by Dave Knighton

Find yourselves in a life or death fight alongside some rather unusual allies. Can you defend the Shining Valley and its harpy inhabitants against Droaam forces?

Follow the siren call into the second adventure of the Across Eberron: Convergence Manifesto adventure path, optimized for 2nd level characters. Written for use with either Eberron: Rising from the Last War or the Wayfinder's Guide to Eberron by Keith Baker.

Adventure Summary: Provost Nigel Faurious’s continued planar research has uncovered a reference to a sapphire amulet and a map with general directions to the entrance of the Shining Valley deep within the Graywall Mountains. He believes that the Valley is an Irian manifest zone, capable of charging the sapphire and granting unknown healing properties. The Provost has already acquired the sapphire and contracted Lhara, a female shifter within the Clifftop Adventurers’ Guild, to put forth a writ calling for adventurers to follow the map he uncovered and discover if the amulet’s properties are authentic. Unbeknownst to the Provost, a flight of harpies known as the Haunting Song is already living within the Shining Valley after escaping an attack on their lives by two other flights. The characters will have to convince these current inhabitants that they mean no harm. The harpies have already learned the healing properties of the valley and have been raising a new generation without any outside interference, but due to the party’s recent expedition, an oncoming war party has been spotted and the harpies now demand they assist in defending their home.

Across Eberron (www.acrosseberron.com) is an Eberron community project that aims to tell the stories and exploits of heroic characters in Eberron and introduce players--new and experienced--to the wonderful lore and rich history the setting has to offer. Edited by Wayne Chang, Laura Hirsbrunner, and Anthony Turco, along with executive producer Keith Baker.

While I like the idea of having the PCs defend a group of friendly monsters, one thing that struck me as odd is the idea that they have to trek westward through the mountains for three days in order to find the entrance to a network of tunnels that they then have to trek eastwards through for three days before finding the hidden valley. It makes it feel like they were already at (or near) their destination when they first got airdropped into the mountains. I'm thinking I might just cut that bit out and have them get airdropped near the valley, which they can find from the surface.

Hello,
I’m having hard timing figuring out the logic behind gold rewards in the campaign... 100gp/ each in AE01, then 100+100gp for all in AE02... is that correct?

I'm having the hardest time finding or making a map I like for the segment where the wave of Drooam mercs come into the valley. Did anyone make or find a map they were keen on for it?

Hello Darryl,

In my mind it was just an open valley. When I ran this with my group I just quickly drew some small hills, rock outcroppings, and a few trees for cover purposes but nothing specific.

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
