Heroes

Sinister forces are moving against the city of Baldur’s Gate

in this adventure book for Dungeons and Dragons 5th Edition!

  • Full-color, 160-page adventure book
  • Digital version includes printer-friendly PDFs
  • Includes illustrations and statistics for 15 legendary heroes and villains!

This adventure will take a party of 4-6 heroes from 1st to 6th level.

The city of Baldur’s Gate is the pride of West Faerûn—a mercantile stronghold ruled by the famous Grand Dukes. One year ago, a powerful merchant leader named Sarevok nearly catapulted the city into war with the neighboring nation of Amn. This crisis was averted, and the remnants of the organization were scattered throughout the Sword Coast.

Now, the city is threatened from within by agents of the nefarious Zhentarim, who seek to fill the power vacuum left behind in the wake of these events. Meanwhile, the Shadow Druids plot to destroy the city by performing terrible rituals, deep within the Cloakwood. Who will rise to oppose them?

Great campaign.. one issue I can't see stats for the Pirate and Pirate Chief anywhere in the pdf files, are they missing? Does anyone have any idea what they should be esp the pirate chief.

Hi there, pirates are just a re-flavor for bandits and bandit captains. You can find them in the Monster Manual next to the bandit stat blocks.

Anyone have any idea what the 2 not-horses in Brutus's stables are? Described as 'strange, lanky creatures the size of horses, with hunched backs and toes in place of hooves". Are they supposed to be worgs?

I don't understand why it doesn't tell you what they're supposed to be. I mean there's a 0% chance players aren't going to ask about them if they see them.

Pretty sure that description is fitting of Camels, which would be a bit exotic in the Sword Coast.

Hello! I have a question: I saw in the preview-pdf that there is a beautiful map of the sword coast. It has numbers on certain locations and so I would like to ask if the pdf includes as well a map without those numbers on it. Thanks!

The digital version includes unnumbered versions of all of the maps in the book, including the Sword Coast.

Thanks for the info :) I’m running a campaign in the Sword Coast and the Players visit many places from the Baldurs Gate game so this is just perfect!

Hello, I'm going to make and upload this scenario play from the D&D gaming community in Korea to YouTube. Do I need a special permit form or procedure to do this?

Adventure looks great and cant wait to run it, love the art, maps and stuff like epic backgrounds.

I do have one conern or question.

Is it balanced?

*Spoilers* It seems at level 2 the party are expected to fight a villan (Kagain) and 4 thugs in an encounter. The only issue is he is CR 7 like the rest of the villains.
Some of the other fights have allies help and most of the villians surrender when low on hp but it seems like the players dont stand a chance. Is this a stat error, a intention or am I missing something?

Also on a another note, smalll thing.
Unlike other half-elfs Khalid dosent seem to have darkvision or Fey Ancestry.

The balance depends on a lot on DM discretion. In my campaign, the party was able to hire Kagain away from the Zhentarim with a gemstone that they recovered elsewhere in the city. A full-sized party of six could probably take him down, but smaller parties would need the help of allied NPCs.

Khalid should probably have those half-elven features.

*spoilers* I waited 'til my party was level 3 when they fought Kagain. The battle was actually quite trivial for them, thanks to smart spellcasting: Fog cloud upcast to make the crossbowmen useless, hold Person on Kagain --> adv and auto-crits galore. Almost killed him outright, though they were smart enough to spare him and buy him out to face Montaron.

The bugbear chief Gurkle actually gave them a lot more trouble, as they faced it at level 2 and the gauntlet leading up to the fight was quite taxing. Would've been TPK if they hadn't released the cloaker at the last moment to turn the tide.

Montaron would've been deadly for them if Kagain wasn't around. Montaron could instantly one lvl 3 char with Assassinate, but Kagain's hp allowed him to absorb the hit.

No current plans for that. The goal was to leave the story in a place where DM's can create new story threads using the campaign guide.

Skimming through my POD version today, looking at the chapter numbers only on the bottom of the pages, I was suddenly shocked to see that the book appeared to go from Chapter 8 directly into Chapter 10! I flipped back through the book, and found the Chapter 9 heading, but the bottom of that page, and every page in Chapter 9, says Chapter 8: Return to Baldur's Gate! I thought, "Surely this must have been included in those POD fixes and I just bought my copy before that was put in place!" I opened up version 2 of the PDF, and lo and behold, I found the exact same error. All of the pages in Chapter 9 are labels as Chapter 8 on the bottom of the page.

Hey, sorry to bother everyone, but I was wondering if the date this adventure happens in is very important?

I was thinking of doing a mega campaign that includes the story line of Heroes of Baldur's Gate , followed by Descent Into Avernus followed by Baldur's Gate 3

Hi there, the POD files are being updated with fixes for various stats and typos. The DM's Guild takes down the POD option during its review process. It will be available again when the review process completes, which will hopefully be later this week.

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.
Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
