Now a Silver selling module!

The Underling's Awakening is a small campaign (25 pages) meant for more than one sitting. It features a vivid story based campaign featuring 2 dungeons and a chase accross an open moorland. Please feel free to download the maps and dungeons seperately (required if using the ink friendly version as maps dont show up on these formats. Apologies in advance - the maps are not in Black and White)

It is intended for characters level 4+ (level up from 4 after Minion Wraith fight to ensure easier survival) up to 10.

It is a continuation on from my previous title - Rise of the Necromancer (https://www.dmsguild.com/product/267287/Rise-of-the-Necromancer?term=rise+of+the+ne) and leads on to the final installment - Empire of the Underling (https://www.dmsguild.com/product/290402/Empire-of-the-Underling?term=empire+underl) in which our players must infiltrate and exterminate the forces of evil in a brand new city!

Please feel free to leave a comment or review and again any feedback will be greatly appreciated.

Downlaod size = 42.1mb (main file)

So, I'm currently running this campaign now. Ive had to make a few modifications to the bosses bc they get kind of blow over. In the end, the Underling seemed kind of mediocre at best when its been such a big build up. So, I added legendary resistances, and a few legendary actions so it can actually stand a chance among my group That at level 4 is dishing anywhere between 100-150 damage a round. For a boss... he needed to be...well, a boss. Also, towards the end of the story there isn't a split to the story to so you have to make your own conclusion and just adlib everything. Its either the Underling is stabbed with the Siphon. return to the lake for cleansing (without any other instructions on how to do so or where the story goes) or the Underling succeeds and everyone wakes up at the lake and its now a desolate land of waste and the maiden is held against her will; which the story finishes out this ending until the next installment. I haven't a clue if my PC will roll a nat20 to strike down the underling or...See more

Hi Matt, thanks for the input appreciate the help. I always say its DM discretion on how difficult you want a campaign to be. Some teams with well functioning members will always do better than fresh recruits with randomly created characters. Its a tight rope i walk in creating these guides and i would always err on the side of "too easy" but leaving room for the DM to up the stats or number of monsters per encounter. I hate for my own players to be completely obliterated halfway through a campaign and so for this reason maybe i am too lenient. As for the story arc - trying to split the story for two ways takes up a lot of time and "what ifs" that i can not account for every situation. Personally i try to "steer" my own players to keep in line with the story so things get kept nicely on track. The next instalment has a lot more story crossing and what ifs in it (my skills at building these guides is slowly improving lol). I did notice myself however i failed to add in !SPOILER WARNING!...See more

Just finished the second part completely and while the party had fun they did have some complaints about getting auto-attacked without any kind of checks or saves and just took auto damage. I do get where theyre coming from as everything usually has some kind of check before tripping a trap or attacks.

Hi matt, glad you and your group enjoyed it. Looking through the underlings awakening i see come bits myself that could do with a little tweak here and there as well as what you have mentioned (my module writing skills are improving albeit slowly lol). The good news is part 3 to the revival series is done! Proof reading has started and i am making a separate file for the monster stats in the book as the module itself is 30 pages long! Should have it all done by the end of this coming week so stay tuned for the next bit - going to be epic!

This looks like a lot of fun. Is there a chance you have an ink friendly version available? One is listed in downloads but it's identical to the graphic copy

Ink friendly version has been updated - sorry about that. Please let me know if it is all ok. You will also need to download the maps to use as they dont show up in the ink friendly format (sorry they are only in colour).

Just picked this and the first one up with the idea of running these as a oneshot campaign when our normal campaign takes a lull/people can't make it. Reading through both i'm looking forward to running these (my first attempts at being a DM) and looking forward to seeing the next chapter.

Thanks for the support, hope you and your group enjoy and don't be afraid to put some pointers down or any improvements for the final installment - it is coming (albeit slowly) as at the halfway point it was already longer than the first 2 put together! Stay tuned !

Well we're half way through this now and so far everyone has enjoyed where we're up to (took us the session to get to the Skylake). the battles between the inn and the lake have been interesting with some of the skills of the mobs and feedback i've had from the players is good. hopefully finishing off this week and awaiting the next instalment

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.
Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
