This may sound very self explanatory, but I wanted to make sure for certain. Are the Illithids playable Aberrations, or are they considered Humanoids? I'm asking because no where near the race of Illithid is it said to be an Aberration, and races that aren't stated to be something are assumed to be Humanoid, like the Leonin from Mythic Odyssey's of Theros, The Kalashtar from Eberron: Rising from the Last War, Verdan from Acquisitions Incorporated, Loxodon from Guildmasters' Guide to Ravnica, and probably the most common one, the Warforged from Eberron: Rising from the Last War.

Same question for Sprites on if they are Fey btw. Thanks!

Good question, and it's something we simply overlooked. In terms of being consistent with MMotM, I'd treat Sprites as Fey and Illithids as Humanoids.

Thanks for the answer! I'm not gonna go against what you guys think is best, and I know this was made way before the current Spelljammers book, but since that book added a playable construct, playable Monstrosity, and even a playable Ooze, is there any way that the Illithid could have been an Aberration instead? No matter the answer, I still really appreciate this being published!

Had a quick question on this. Is the 'Sprite' player race a Humanoid or a Fey?

The Nimblewright traits call out that it is a Construct, so am I to assume that since being Fey is not called out in the Sprite traits in a similar manner, that they are humanoid? Just looking for some clarification so I don't confuse the DM.

Thanks in advance!

Rules question for Nimblewright
If they do not have a voicebox installed, can they cast spells?

While I assume its intelligence, there is no saving throw called out to resist the mind flayers mind blast ability. Can this please be added to the Errata document.

Hello, I've been wondering how does the Veil of Shadow spell function? We're using this in my group and having trouble with the wording.

"... In addition, if you do not move or take actions in an area of dim light or darkness, you become invisible."

When does the trigger for invisibility occur? Do you need to NOT move/attack in dim light/darkness for an entire turn to activate it? Or is it meant to activate immediately if you end a turn in dim light?

Good question - I need better wording. Something like, "If you start your turn in dim light or darkness, if you do not move or take an action, you are invisible"

I have a question regarding the Factotum's Arcane Dilettante ability. It says, "by spending one 1 ingenuity point, you are able to cast one of the spells you know." Do they still need to expend a spell slot to cast the spell, or just the ingenuity point?

A few more questions regarding the Factotum:

1) It doesn't have Arcane Focus proficiency in the spellcasting section. I'm assuming it's supposed to, since an Arcane Focus is one of the choices in the starting equipment section.
2) In terms of multi-classing and spell slots, is the Lore of the Theurge considered a 1/3rd caster (like Eldritch Knights and Arcane Tricksters)? What about the base class?

Also, the base class costs 1 ingenuity point to cast a cantrip? I understand that was the case back in 3.5, but cantrips back then were a limited resource and in 5e, cantrips are sort of standardized attacks for casters. It feels strange.

Aaand another question...

The Spell Slots gained for the Arcane Dilettante base class feature. Do they recover on a short rest or long rest? Right now it doesn't say either way (unlike the Lore of the Theurge, which specifically says long rest). I was wondering if the base class basically got a weak version of the warlock's pact magic.

Got my questions answered by Greg.

1) It does not have the Spell Focus proficiency, so it doesn't use an Arcane Focus.
2) The Multi-classing for spell slots is treated as a 1/4th caster only if you have Lore of the Theurge, otherwise it doesn't add to other spellcasting classes. The Arcane Dilettante spells are treated as a separate thing.
3) The Arcane Dilettante cantrip costs an ingenuity point per use. The cantrips from Lore of the Theurge do not.
4) Arcane Dilettante spell slots must be used along with the ingenuity point.
5) Arcane Dilettante spell slots recover on a long rest.

Any plans to do print on demand softcover release?

I feel like this supplement deserves a place on my shelf next to Xanathar’s Lost Notes to Everything Else and the Art of War for D&D Players...

Second question: how would Ranger: Wayfarer’s Danger sense interact with the UA Blind Fighter fighting Style and how would the subclass interact with the new Variant Ranger at large?

At this stage, OBS are not turning older titles in POD products. If this policy changes, we will have a look at this.

I'll have to pass your second question about the Wayfarer onto Greg, as he wrote that archetype!

For "how would Ranger: Wayfarer’s Danger sense interact with the UA Blind Fighter fighting Style," I don't think Blind-fight lets you see the trap/spell/ambush coming, so while you might not have disadvantage, I don't think Danger Sense would kick you to advantage. The class feature wasn't really designed with this Unearthed Arcana fighting style being considered, so if your DM wanted it to work, it would probably be okay.

For "how would the subclass interact with the new Variant Ranger at large?" You could probably sub it in like the archtypes they give in the new variant ranger rules, but note that the version in Mirt's wasn't designed with these new rules either, so its missing a 5th-level feature and you and your DM would need to work on something to fit in there.

Thank you both for your answers!

I understood that DM's Guild Adept titles were of a bit of different category than any old DM's Guild titles, so I thought there was more of a channce for a revisit. Who is OBS though?

How do Sprite-sized weapons work with Heavy weapons, like the Longbow and the Greatsword? Is a "Sprite-sized" Greatsword still appropriate for Great Weapon Master? Is it at Disadvantage because of the size issue? Would a Small-sized creature be able to wield a Sprite-sized Greatsword not at disadvantage?

I don't know. These are questions that rely on having a robust set of weapon-sizing rules, like 3e did. 5e doesn't. So I'm not sure it makes a lot of sense to have a class that isn't Small or Medium. The rules just aren't there to support it.

So one of my players was looking over the nimblewright and specifically the repairable component. It allows mending to be cast instead of spare the dying, however mending has a casting time of 1 minute meaning the players would have gone through all their death saves and then some. Seems like a fairly useless component at this point, might need some tweaking?

You are correct - our mistake. Just use "spare the dying" as usual. I will correct the pdf when I get a few more errata.

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
