THIS IS A VTT MODULE FOR Fantasy Grounds, not a PDF

Tyrannosaurus VeX Presents

VeX's Vicious Mockery Generator

NOW VERSION 2.0 (See EDIT notes below)

Ever had a long day and then sat down and cast a spell like Vicious Mockery or used Cutting Words, but you can't come up with an insult?  Or maybe you just only can come up with one or two insults in a session and then you feel tapped out.  Maybe you're not a bard, but you just like to have a random insult or two up your sleeve to keep the RP flowin'?

Then this is the module for you!

What it included?

  • Seven EIGHT hundred insults, some of which are PG-rated (curse words).
  • Nearly all of which are fantasy related, if not D&D specific.
  • Future updates with even more insults!
EDIT:  This module has been updated to SORT the insults into 3 different categories: General insults that work in a Fantasy setting, Dirty Insults (that also work in a Fantasy setting), and Pop-Culture referenses (some of which can break the roleplaying if your game is a serious RP game).  In sorting out the Dirty and Pop-Culture insults, I also added some more to fill in all the d100 tables, so now there are a total of 800 insults.
BUT, the best part is, you can now roll on a table that includes only the 600 clean fantasy-themed insults, include the 100 dirty insults as well, or roll with all 800 insults.  Enjoy version 2.0!!

Any chance at a line of these style generators but for the Roll20 API? Or is there a way to use this in that setting as well?

We can't sell things specifically designed for R20 on DMsGuild. So, no, sorry.

.mod files go in the Modules subfolder in your Fantasy Grounds data directory.

Then you load the module in the Library inside Fantasy Grounds.

In Fantasy Grounds in the lower righthand corner is a Library button, inside that window is a Modules button, from there you load modules. Once loaded, it will be in the main Library window and you can find the rollable tables there.

Hi there! I've noticed you're using my art on the cover without my permission. Could you please add credit in your description and cover image or use something else? @pixel_he_art for twitter or pixel-he-art on tumblr. Thank you

I wish it was more clear that this resource requires you to create an account with a separate tool (Fantasy Grounds). I am not willing to jump through several hoops to be able to use it.

Sorry you feel that way. But that's why I make the very first line in my Fantasy Grounds products the line "THIS IS A VTT MODULE FOR Fantasy Grounds, not a PDF". It also says next to the title where you enter how much you wish to pay, "MOD (Virtual Tabletop)".

Fun, but would prefer an option that omits modern references (in my first 5 rolls, I got references to "a porn star" and "Barry Manilow").

Do you know of a way to automate this when the spell is casted?

No. It would be awesome if you could somehow link a table roll in the Actions>Effects section of the character sheet.

I have my players just drag the roll button down to the hotbar for simpler use.

I've also started a FG Suggestion http://fg2app.idea.informer.com/proj/?ia=124742 so that Smite Works hopefully allows players to roll to Notes, because they can't roll anywhere other than chat currently (from a table). If they could roll results to Notes though, they could roll privately, and then just read the results when they cast the spell.

This would also allow them to roll up insults ahead of time.

I'm sorry you're having troubles opening it.
Did you download the file in the correct directory?

Fantasy Grounds Modules need to be saved in Modules subfolder of the Fantasy Grounds Data Folder.

Once it's in the correct directory, and you are loaded into a Fantasy Grounds campaign as a Host/DM, you load the module from the Library > Modules menu.

Once there, the tables will be accessible from the "Tables" button.

Neat product! Though I'm struggling to get it work. Does it only work on VTT platforms? Is it in a file format other than MP3? My current player won't load the file.

Yes, it only works on Fantasy Grounds. Sorry.

If you've never used Fantasy Grounds, but are interested in Virtual Table Tops, I'd suggest checking it out. You can use the software for free as a player, and only need to buy a license as a DM. There are many DM's that actually use Fantasy Grounds in a real table-top setting to simply keep track of all the data or to display a combat map on a TV in the room.

You can easily learn more about Fantasy Grounds and get some hands on experience with it at www.fantasygroundscollege.net ... they are an associated organization dedicated to teaching new users how to use Fantasy Grounds, help them find games, etc.

It would be great to have this product and your other FG tables available in PDF format for tabletop play. If that's something you'd be open to having someone else put together, I'd be interested in talking with you. Hi Aaron. Just saw this and it looks so cool! Quick question, is this only compatible with 5e or can it be used with other rulesets on Fantasy Grounds (DCC, Conan, Castles & Crusades, etc.)? Thanks.

It's set to be loaded in any ruleset, but designed for 5e. I haven't tested any other rulesets. I don't see why it wouldn't work, but there might be issues. It's just rollable tables, and those are pretty standard across all rulesets.

It most definitely will work in any of the CoreRPG rulesets at least. The older pre-CoreRPG rulesets, I'm not 100% sure.

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
