Fusilist (Artificer Specialist)

ADD TO WISHLIST >
Suggested Price $1.00

Designed for the new 2019 draft of the Artificer, the Fusilist is the Thunder-Cannon-wielding Gunsmith ported from the older renditions of the Artificer. With the Fusilist, you will notice updated mechanics that allow the class to be more openly used with firearms other than just the Thunder Cannon as well as a retention of the classic feel that made the Gunsmith a unique and fun class.

With the Fusilist, you will be gunslinging in no time with access to the following class features:

- Fusilist Spells: the Fusilist adds a number of ranger spells, along with a few others, to their spell list, allowing them to maximize their ranged damage.

- Arcane Magazine: the Arcane Magazine now allows for you to create ammunition for any firearm, not just the Thunder Cannon. Allowing for wider firearm use.

- Versatile Modifications: You can make a number of special attacks that allow you to deal a large amount of damage to a single target or deal damage over a variety of different AoEs.

**Class compatible with misfire ruleset for firearms

I think this is a great subclass, and it could use an update to fall in line with Eberron Rising From the Last War/TCoE version of the Artificer class. Other improvements I'd suggest are being able to use INT for attack and damage rolls (like TCoE Battlesmiths and Armorers), adding an Extra Attack feature (to fall in line with the TCoE Artificers), the ability to add multiple infusions to the Thunder Cannon, and making the damage magical as an Artificer Specialist feature at a certain level.

I love what you wrote for this, but I have one critique. Since the purpose of the thunder monger in the 2017 version was to have damage increase over levels, I thought it would me more appropriate for the level 6 feature and have damage increase over time. Also, I am very happy with your use of ranger spells for AoE damage in place of the blast wave at an earlier level.

Maybe you should add a second tool proficiency, since every other archetype gets two tool proficiencies. Fusilists should get proficiency with woodcarver's tools, since metal stocks and handles aren't the most practical.

I think that is a good idea! The lack of a second proficiency was originally intended to balance out the increased utility of being able to smith all weapons faster/cheaper.

Thank you for the feedback, it will be considered for the next revision. Please check out my other works if you like this one!

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
