I played this adventure and enjoyed it, but there were some issues for other players. I was level 3, along with a level 4, a level 3, and three level ones. Six players, below APL suggestion for the adventure - no adjustments, right? First thing that happens is we all roll poorly on a save against the cold and take six damage. I don't think the writer or DM considered how it feels, for someone with ten hit points, to take 1d6 damage just for showing up. In every combat in the adventure one or more people are in serious danger of death. The final fight is us against the bad guy and a big scary thing. One of our level ones has taken some damage, so when bad guy rolls high on a shatter, she's instantly dead. The big scary thing hits another level one and he's instantly dead. I think to myself, surely the DM has messed up - there's no way the adventure was written with the intent that we, a tier one party, would be fighting something that does 5d6+4 (the DM tells us this as he's rolling) damage on a hit. An average...See more

CREATOR
Grace,
Thank you for your response and your feedback. I had the pleasure of having a group of play-testers test this at different APLs, so we did have some insight at different APLs through the adventurer's development. The effects of the Chaos Storm are left open for DMs to present and regulate damage; its effects are optional. The creature at the end of the adventure is only meant to attack in certain circumstances and even then-it's tactic is to leave after it's done what it's there to do-not stick around and attack the party. The "other" bad guy at the end of the adventure has unique-non-attack tactics as well; it looks like they both may have been adjusted in your particular experience. I am glad to hear that despite this, you enjoyed your experience and the adventure. I thank you for taking time to share your experience with me. Good Gaming!

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
