Youtube Review: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lQJGw0GSIX8

"Monster Manual Expanded has plenty that should spark a player's imagination. From enormous mimics to mind flayer assassins to succubi with bardic abilities, there's plenty of monsters to add to a DM's arsenal and turn a good encounter into an instantly memorable one. Best of all, none of the monsters feel overpowered or unbalanced, so DMs can toss these creatures into their campaigns instantly with minimal prep involved." - Comicbook.com (https://comicbook.com/gaming/2019/03/02/dungeons-and-dragons-monster-manual-expanded/)

"The creativity and attention to detail that went into this already makes it must have companion to your MM... you should buy this book and watch your player's jaws drop when monsters they thought they knew prove capable of so much more!"DnD Character Lab (https://www.patreon.com/dndcharacterlab)

"Monster Manual Expanded does a fantastic job of lovingly recreating monsters that were sadly missing from 5e... Whether you're looking to populate your homebrew world or just looking to make that 10th playthrough of Lost Mines of Phandelver a little more interesting, Monster Manual Expanded should be one of your go to resources." - Nerdimmersion (http://www.nerdimmersion.com/)

Monster Manual Expanded is a 321-page source of content that supplements the Monster Manual.  It aims to provide Dungeon Masters more options and flexibility in designing adventures and dressing up their dungeons with a wider variety of creatures and characters that are based on the Monster Manual.  Finally, it also adds variants that provide a nostalgic and classic feel that DMs experienced with the older editions are probably familiar with.

In total, there are over 470 creature stat blocks in this book at the Dungeon Master's disposal!

The skill name "Intimidate" should be "Intimidation". I noticed a number of these in the stat blocks for giants, but I'd hazard a guess that the skill appears in other stat blocks as well. :)

HI! Fantastic content btw, however I noticed on pg. 102, under the description for "Zuggtmoy-touched Shrieker, the 2nd sentence "The shrieker attracts the attention of any creature that wanders into range of its piercing screech, making itself a "traget", the last word is misspelled, and should read "target".

This has been my go-to book from the moment I got it, extraordinary!! Is there any chance the ToC could get hyperlinked, or just with page numbers? Amazing work on this!

So sorry for all these questions, the cave bear and dire bear - the multiattack says two attacks, one with its b i t e and two with its claws? So three attacks or a combo of one b i t e and one claw or two claws?

Thats a typo. It should read "the bear makes three attacks." Will fix it in the next update.

Hmm think I got censured :) - the b i t e
and is the escape DC for the tentacle still 18 or should that be 15 like the DC for fling?
Customer avatar
Dragonix N October 13, 2019 9:22 pm UTC
CREATOR
Looks like I forgot to update those stats so good catch. The DC though for the tentacle grab and fling is DC 16, calculated as 8 + the strength modifier (same as in the monster manual, no proficiency bonus).

The regurgitate DC should be DC 20 as well, and not DC 15. Will fix these in the next update after I release Monster Manual Expanded II.

Just need to know if the different Hydra's darkvision is a mistake or intentional? They all have 10 ft darkvision and the standard Hydra has 60 ft.
And are they supposed to be unaligned instead of neutral?

Hi Pia,

Good catch. Those are typos, except for the gulguthydra, which should be neutral. Will fix in the next update.

Hey there! I was reviewing the Yuan-ti Abomination Champion, and a few things popped out:

1. Did you intend for the DEX to be lower than the Yuan-ti Abomination?
2. The proficiency bonus is +4 so the spell save DC should be 16 rather than the 15 for Innate Spellcasting and 17 for Spellcasting, both of which use the same ability score, and the bonus to attack should be +8.
3. Did you intend to leave out the poison damage for the longbow?
Customer avatar
Dragonix N September 16, 2019 12:02 pm UTC
CREATOR
1) Yes, since this is a blackguard archetype, i wanted to give it armor, and at the same time, adjust its stats to compliment its abilities. Since it has a high dex, i ended up giving it medium armor and reducing its dex to +2 to maximize it with a breastplate armor.
2) Good catch there. I forgot to change the DCs after copying it over. It should be DC 16 and the spell attack bonus should be +8. Will be fixed in the next version.
3) Good catch, but it's there. It just got cropped unfortunately from indesign's text area. It's fixed now and should be good in the next version.

Thanks again Nate.
Also, please send me a ping at nix_hobbystop@yahoo.com. I have something to ask.

Might I ask why the vampires all deal double weapon damage die, yet there is nothing to indicate as to why they would have this trait?

Also, the vampire spawn warrrior uses a longsword, but it deals piercing damage instead of slashing.

you are right, i believe I may have misread the claws as claw and assumed vampires dealt double weapon damage (like the brute feature). will fix them all in the next version. i'll recalculate their CRs as well. currently the CR matches their damage output tho so in the meantime assume they have the brute feature.

I think the vampire spawn warrior should have a weaker unarmed strike attack rather than claws (Something like 1d4). Otherwise it would simply be better for the vampire to fight unarmed (Same damage and can also grapple if need be)

What I'll probably do is rework the multiattack and give the warrior a greatsword. I'll think about it and should have an update by next week. As much as possible, I don't want to remove claws as it is in the vampire spawn default attack. But we'll see.
Customer avatar
Dragonix N August 09, 2019 4:35 pm UTC
CREATOR
After giving it much thought, this is what I'll probably do. The Vampire Spawn Warrior's multiattack will now read as:

"The vampire makes two attacks: two with its claws or once with its claws and once with its 'b-i-t-e.' Alternatively, it can make two greatsword attacks."

This way, it can either go full weapon damage mode or try to grab its victim and 'b-i-t-e' it. This would make more sense as it appears to need both hands (claws) free for a grab, or wield two hands for the greatsword.

Hello!

As I am soon going to print v 1.12, would it be possible to add an additional page (after the back cover?) where you keep track of the Errata, same as MM of WotC.

That way we could print just that handout, at every update, and put into the book to check the recent modifications to the content.

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.
Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
