Does this take place in the forgotten realms?

Some of the adventures are set specifically in the Forgotten Realms, but most are "setting neutral": you could easily drop them into the Forgotten Realms if you want to, but you could also run them in most other campaign settings.

A timbannock.com review.

Unique among one-shot adventure collections in that Uncaged has a tightly unifying theme gloriously realized through adventure scenarios that often feature tough moral dilemmas, Uncaged Volume I is a triumph. It is beautifully laid out with several tools that make it incredibly easy to navigate it’s 26 adventures, many of which feature new monsters, magic items, and encounter maps. With the exception of maybe one or two missing references that might affect gameplay, the editing is incredibly consistent, making it a joy to read. If you’re looking for one-shots that are more than just dungeoncrawls, there might not be a better release out there.

Rating: Content 5/5 and Form 4/5

Second part of the review -- featuring all the tier 2 through 4 adventures -- is incoming soon at timbannock.com!

Hey all, I know this may not be the best place for this but I don't know where would be. Do we have any updates on release dates for the updated Player's Handbook that won't include Z. Smith?

I am really looking forward to the next release in May.

Just to put it in picture, I grew up in Apartheid South Africa and had to fight in the bush war in Angola in 1986. We were common infantry men of 18 years old. We went to war, and I was in the bush war against Angola for 2 years. We would go out on 6 patrols weeks into the bush in small troops and survive there, I lost 20 of my fellow infantry soldiers in a mortar attack.

What kept me going was my 3 AD&D books and playing D&D with my fellow soldiers.

The Dominie (a.k.a Christian priest) eventually had our books burnt as Satanic, so we carried on playing from memory. Even though haven being wounded in battle but having still fought on till the end, having been shot at by Artillery, spent months paroling behind enemy lands during the night, where you have to be careful of lions, however because I was a atheist, I was treated poorly by the Army and told I deserved to die instead of the Christian soldiers. ...See more

Nice to see a fellow customer from Africa (I'm more Eastern though). Mandiba was an idol in my childhood during the 90s. I'm often thankful to have not been born a couple of decades earlier. Great to see how the country is slowly moving past those dark days.

Is there any plan to make some or all of these adventures Adventurer's League-legal (or maybe future volumes)? I sometimes run women and/or LGBTQ+ specific AL tables and would love to have these as a resource.

What a shame. This would be a wonderful addition to the season agnostic line of modules like Myth Drannor, etc.
Well, here's to hoping they'll remedy this with season 9 :)

Hey Ashley :)
Bought this last night and spent all night and reading reading through it. Kudos for a near-perfect product!
Regarding the maps PDF that goes with the download. I noticed that the map for The Cave of Wonders by Natalie Wallace has location markers on it. It would be fantastic if this particular map could be included in the map PDF so it's easily usable in Roll20 without having to pull out our rusty Paint.net skills :)
Other than tha? Fantastic book!!!

I'm interested in this book, but I am concerned about the content warnings mentioned at the beginning of the book, as seen in the preview. Could one of the creators or purchasers let me know what the specific content warnings are?
Customer avatar
Amanda L April 04, 2019 7:45 am UTC
PURCHASER
The content warnings do not apply to every adventure. Each adventure has any applicable content warnings listed, although many of the adventures do not have a need for a content warning. These content warnings range from snakes to forest fires to sexism to domestic violence to infanticide to suicide with a lot of variety in between. However, most content warnings are unique to a single module and, again, many modules did not require a content warning at all. Is this sufficient or would you prefer a complete breakdown of warnings by module?

Thank you for your response, Amanda L, that's helpful to know. A big question I have is whether sexual assault is in any of the content warnings.

Abuse, PTSD, and domestic abuse are all content warnings included on one or two modules. However, sexual assault is not a content warning for any module.

Hey Forrest! We're having an issue with the PDF not showing images on iOS devices. Can you send an email to lysa@onebookshelf.com?

The Lauma is a two-page illustration and not technically an adventure. We're working on making a print-friendly version of the stat block.

Thanks!

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.
Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
