AE01-01 Fired & Forgotten by Imogen Gingell

Take a literal leap of faith into Sharn's industrial underworld. Will you fight for warforged rights?

Jump into the first adventure of the Across Eberron: Convergence Manifesto adventure path with this introductory adventure for 1st level characters. Written for use with either Eberron: Rising from the Last War or the Wayfinder's Guide to Eberron by Keith Baker.

Adventure Summary: Characters are inducted into the Clifftop Adventurers’ Guild with a literal leap of faith, playing the notorious freefall game Sharn Chicken—who will be the last to activate their feather fall talisman? As new members of the guild, they are then tasked with collecting an artifact, tied to the fires of Fernia, from an artificer in the deep forge districts of Sharn. Within the Cogs, the characters find the item has not even been finished—the warforged employees of the forge are on strike! In order to resolve the strike, characters might join the protest, seek allies among the warforged locals, or earn the crew some street cred by taking part in an underground wrestling match. Once the warforged have returned to work, the party must help an artificer stabilize the magical forge while being attacked by emerging fire elementals. Finally, once the prize artifact has been constructed, the characters fight their way past an ettin enforcer for the monstrous Daask crime syndicate.

Across Eberron (www.acrosseberron.com) is an Eberron community project that aims to tell the stories and exploits of heroic characters in Eberron and introduce players--new and experienced--to the wonderful lore and rich history the setting has to offer. Edited by Wayne Chang, Laura Hirsbrunner, and Anthony Turco, along with executive producer Keith Baker.

Mashed this great adventure with Jared Smith's Welcome to Sharn. Players liked it so much they wrote a song about it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NPWEW7KyK7g

Hi There, Love the community driven campaign! It does a great job of showcasing things... across Eberron... ;)
Are there any VTT maps for this campaign? It would be a great asset. Thank you!

Just played this tonight.

Had a blast with Sharn Chiken, but our group didn't went after the bright spot - we didn't even asked for an Arcana Roll. Maybe the DM should've be more clear there was a bonus scene?

The DM also got confused when we went to tell the warforgeds to go to work (was a lot easier that what we were supposed to do)... and he also didn't expect us to offer the payment from the Burning Idol to Daask in order to Yadah-Ro to leave... which she did, maybe because we were too beaten up from the magma mephits.

Anyway great adventure with a lot of fun!

At the text in the Fungal Crop section it’s written “reveal both the Heat Death and Hibernation traits”, but the Fire Fungus has none of those traits!

Hi Leo, thanks for the note! Looks like a previous update somehow dropped those, we've added them back into the stat block in an updated version 1.3 :)

Hello John, adventure author here! Thanks for the questions.
I'm more than happy to answer any questions you might have.

The adventure largely assumes 'theatre of the mind' type play for Scene 4, so didn't include a map. If you'd like the sketch one up for your players to use with miniatures (or just the demonstrate the layout), here are the important parts of the scene, in the order they matter for the ritual:

- The Forge: Have a big roaring fire at one end of the room. At the start of the ritual, a magma mephit will climb out of here, so this'll be the focus any melee battling. Note that anyone within 30 ft of it will need to make Con saves to resist the heat. Generally, you want to assume that ranged attackers are probably able to stay out of the intense heat, so you might want to make the room about 40-50ft square.

-Orichalcum Vat: Stoke will dispense molten orichalcum for the ritual here. It's to the right of the fire, and not very far away - perhaps 10-15ft. Your...See more

Hi Imogen! I really like the way this adventure reads. I particularly like your use of the fail forward method for the various ability checks. It's too bad you didn't write the whole campaign, as I feel like the second and third adventures (which is as far as I've gotten on my readthrough) aren't quite as strong.

Anyway, I have a question for you: when it comes to helping out the warforged on strike, I'm a little unsure as to how the Time to Rumble scene is supposed to help the picketing warforged. Would you be able to dig into your thinking behind that one a little bit?

This sounds really cool! Just wondering, do you have any plans to update it to Rising from the Last War rules?

Hi Joe! the only significant change in Rising that impacts this adventure is how feather tokens work for Sharn Chicken; we do plan to go back in and update that mechanic, but it's still playable using the existing rules, it'll just vary slightly from the feather tokens as written in Rising. (the other adventures are all fine as written, though Rising introduces more information on the Mournlands even that episode works fine as-is)

The updates have just been a low priority because of other projects on our plates (like Keith's upcoming book!). Hoping to have time soon though. :)

Cheers,
Laura

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
