The journal found in the Quartzwall mine is proving difficult to translate. The cleric in Mountainholm
asks the adventurers to go to a lair nearby where supposedly a cipher can be found to translate the
book. What the adventurers find at this lair leads to a bunch of challenges that puts their very puzzle
solving skills to the test. Will they be able to survive The House?
A Four-Hour Adventure for 1st-4th Level Characters

Hello!

I've ran your 5e story "Pest Extermination" the other day, and the group really enjoyed themselves, so thanks a lot!

Afterwards I read the next installment (The House Always Wins), and I was wondering if I'm correct in thinking the combat encounters are significantly easier than the dungeon from Part 1 (there's the puzzles, but there's less risk of failure, it seems, noticing the amount of enemies per encounter and their stats). For a level 3-4 party, should I up the amount of enemies in the last encounter, or is the Cambion alone already dangerous enough? (Compared to the Red dragon wyrmling, Kobold scale sorcerer and 2 kobold dragonshields and remaining goblins as the "boss room" in part 1)

I'll await your message,
Greetings,
Miro

The main thing with the cambion fight is you got the added difficulty of the roulette wheel that will deal damage or heal everyone (including the cambion) along with the dex save every turn on initiative 20 or fall prone. The cambion is immune to this as he can fly and should be flying. If you want to really annoy your party you would have the cambion fly around the party attack the casters or people who don't have a strong melee attack then fly out only have to worry about their weak AoO but staying out of melee range of melee fighters.

Ultimately this adventure was suppose to be an easier fun adventure compared to the other 2 with a casino game theme to it. Personally it is my favorite one I've written because of all the flavor I put into it. I just hope others enjoy it as much I hope they do.

The players liked it a lot! The casino flavour really was very enjoyable. I ran it with 5 Level 3-4 characters. I did up the encounters, as my players are quite experienced and combat oriented players who like difficult challenges (upped the health of the black knights to double, 3 centaurs instead of 1, and 2 cambions instead of 1). They still made it through (although one of them became unconscious during the Cambion fight). The skeleton betting was a lot of fun to roleplay...

Considering Mountainholm, it was the second time for a couple of the characters to return there, and they seem to enjoy the characters there. Somewhere this week I'll run the third story, and Im curious how they'll react to having to fight people theyve met multiple times now, after they got turned to undead.

I'm curious though: Do you have any indication if or when the continuation of the series will happen?

Greetings,
M

I'm working on writing the tier 2 continuation at the moment. The first one is almost done but I have some stuff to still work on dealing with social encounters. I started writing the second adventure which I believe shall be quick although I do need my map guy to finish a map for it. I'm aiming for trying to finish an adventure every 2 months max. So it looks like possibly if I keep on target we are looking at them coming out around June.

Also if you are interested in possibly playtesting my adventures, I am looking for people. You can message me @kay_turner on twitter, or kayturner#4579 on discord. Facebook there are so many people by my name finding me would be rough.

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.
Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
