Creature Harvest Index - Beasts

**NOW OUT: Vol 2, ELEMENTALS! Thank you all for the support!!** https://www.dmsguild.com/product/274292/Creature-Harvest-Index--Elementals

"In my culture, we harvest what we kill. The meat feeds us. The furs warm us. We adorn ourselves with their feathers and bones with pride- not in the kill, but in gratitude of the spirit that chose us to wear it." - Aki T'chana, shaman of the Omani clan.

This product is one of the new harvest bestiaries that I have written. These products contain:

* Meat- how much, how to store it, and how much a vendor may pay for it.
* Eggs- for applicable creatures, eggs can be eaten or sold as future pets.
* Pelts, Skins, and Hides - pelts and hides can be worked into cloaks, bags, or leathers, or sold to vendors.
* Claws, Fangs, and Teeth - these parts are typically only used as trophies, but can often be made into jewelry or sold to vendors.
* Venom - certain serpents and arachnids (such as scorp-ions and spiders) possess venom glands that can be carefully extracted or bled into containers. This venom can be sold to vendors (as is illegal in many cities) or kept for personal use.

Skinner's Tools! What are they, and how do you use them? How much meat can I get off a Giant Vulture? How long until it spoils? See the answers to these questions and more!

If this product pleases you, let me know!

Hello, is this series dead? If not, is there a newsletter to be notified when a new book comes out?

Hey, I really like your work! But you talk about publishing Perebuc Lander's Guide to the Wilds a few month after CHI Beast, but I can't find it anywhere. Is it part of the other CHIs or is it abandoned?

Greetings D.Larson.

First off: GREAT STUFF! I've ALWAYS wanted to harvest things from the creatures we killed from the RPGs I've been playing. My DMs either skipped this part OR (most likely) they didn't know how to play such things. I'll be the DM for a campaign in the near future and I intend to use this material (which I have purchased other Creature Harvest PDFs) in my game now that I have a "standard" to go on!

Next: I noticed that there are some creatures mentioned in the Index section, but not in the "Items By Creature" section and vice versa. E.g. Giant Wasp (CR 1/2) on pg 7, buuuut not mentioned in the Index section which should be on page 3 of the document. Was this intentional due to space limitation and word count? (Good thing I used the "find" function otherwise I would have assumed that you couldn't harvest from this creature.)

Just wondering is all. Thanks again for these PDFs!

Sincerely,

Roman

How comes the Vol 2 Aberrations version is vastly superior to this one? Is this one overpriced (for 4 pages) or is the Aberration version ALOT better?

Sadly though you are false advertising your product, the discription makes it look like you have rules around doing stuff with the skins and pelts, but you just repeat the same thing from your discription.
Making this list a summary of most of the beasts and between 2-4 items you could get from them. and a price. no more, no less.

do you have plans to expand this list ?
Things you could add:
- Different poisons designed from different animals?
- a crafting system to actually transform your skins to cloths and a bit more than "pelts and hides can be worked into cloaks, bags, or leathers, or sold to vendors"
- a section on making your own custom organs and providing a function.

I'm sorry you feel it is false advertising, but reading over my summary and descriptions, I'm not seeing where I gave the impression that I had rules for every single item to be harvested. Fortunately, I have mentioned in both the comments for Aberrations and this supplement (just below yours) that Beasts will be updated once I have completed my current works.

This was the original supplement, and I had always intended for it to be just what it is: a singular set of rules for harvesting, and what the price could be for those items. Players are notoriously creative, and (at the time) I wanted to leave what they could craft up to them and their DMs.

Thanks for commenting, feel free to follow me on Facebook for more updates!

On the False Advertising part:
in your summary you stated following:
"This product is one of the new harvest bestiaries that I have written.

"

As it is a summary i would expact a product you paid for to expand on the things you said in the summary, sadly you only repeated the text.

While I can see where you may have been confused by the text, the implication was that the harvesting guide includes "pelts, skins, and hides" and then I gave a brief example as to how they can be used, not that I would list how each pelt could be used. The summary does not say "Pelts, Skins, and Hides, and how to make them into cloaks, bags, or leathers." BUT, as I mentioned before and to answer your question, Vol 2 is superior simply because it was made after this one. I decided to elaborate more and include items I've allowed my players to make in Vol 2, and assured my readers that Vol 1 would receive the same upgrade!

Once again, thank you for reaching out with your concerns! I am glad that you enjoyed Vol 2, and I hope Vol 3 is just as valuable to you! :)

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
