After recently converting this short adventure and running my PCs through it after “Against the Giants” so they could get to level 20 I decided to compile the conversion here. This is a bit of a gem in my opinion – interesting characters, interesting fights, interesting story but short and punchy.

What you will find here is a conversion of all the monsters for the encounters. You will still need the original adventure from Dungeon #162 for the story line. And for the traps I played them as written replacing saving throws on the fly (Will becomes Wisdom for example) but leaving the DCs and damage the same.

NOTE: this is a 4e conversion to 5e of the monsters listed, so they are not clones of the 5e versions but acutally have traits and abilities that compliment each other to create interesting fights.

You seem to be a bit mixed up on editions . Stay blocks have a lot of errors that relate back to fourth edition . There is no bloodied or minion monsters for instance. Dread wealth is weaker than a normal wraith. Many errors need to be fixed to be compatible with 5e .

I use "bloodied" and "minion" in my 5e games and it should be a term familiar to all players. This is a translation, not a slavish conversion, battles don't work if you don't bring the 4e abilities across with them. To be frank, I actually think 4e monsters are better than the 5e bland-fest we have. So this is an attempt to keep the spirit of 4e within 5e rules.

But point taken will add an explanation for thinks like bloodied or just say "half hit points".

These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
