ADD TO WISHLIST >

A set of rules and statistics for those craving a more fleshed out vampirism and lycanthropy system.

Contains stats for vampires, as well as special vampire abilities for each race, and stats for lycanthropes, including the forms listed in the Monster Manual.

For more rules and breeds of lycanthropy, check out the sequel to this product, "Lycanthropy II"!

Version History:

1.2: Made some much-needed updates to content, as discussed in DM Dango's review of this product.

  • Added lore justifications for some of the vampire weaknesses (garlic and mirrors), and added a saving throw to resist garlic when biting.
  • Clarified that the vampire's "blood hunger" trait replaces starvation, and therefore runs on the same rules when starving (PHB pg. 185).
  • Reduced the save DC of the Mental Domination vampire ability, and fixed the absence of a time limit on its effects.
  • Limited the Day Walker vampire ability to only short periods at a time, with recovery time in-between.

1.1: Fixed a formatting issue with a title spilling over into the next line.

So reading the product over, the head of the left-hand column on page 6 reads as follows:

LYCANTHROP
Y

May I suggest another editing pass? I'm trying not to be unduly harsh-- obviously, that doesn't reflect on the quality of the rules-- but you literally have the title of a section with *one letter* split over into the next line. It's kind of painful to read.

Good catch, Josh. It doesn't look that way in my editing program, but I imagine it's an exporting issue, so I've bumped the text size down on that particular title. Thanks for the comment!

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
