Dungeon Masters, immerse players in your world by bringing your non-player characters to life - now for Fantasy Grounds!

The Best-selling supplement has come to the Fantasy Grounds virtual tabletop!

Contained within this supplement are 70 NPCs with unique statblocks. Each NPC contains custom art, lore, and a stat block balanced for the 5e Challenge Rating system.

Additionally, 8 short adventures have been included. These adventures have been created for Dungeon Masters to introduce their players to some of the Adaptable NPCs with minimal preparation. Each adventure has battle maps created by Justin Andrew Mason (DM & Player versions are included), an adventure background, a recommend party level, and room descriptions with encounters (both combat and roleplaying) utilizing NPCs from this supplement and the 5e monster manual.

The Fantasy Grounds conversion of the supplement includes working pins for all NPCs, as well as individual room pins for each area in the short adventures with precreated encounters and parcels! These NPCs & adventures can be dropped into any long-running campaign or run as a oneshot with very little prep on the part of the Dungeon Master.

Reviews

"If you're a DM, you need to have this in your bag of tricks. Not only are the NPCs solidly presented mechanically, they're presented with ideas on how to use them in your ongoing campaign. The mini-dungeons at the end even give you instantly-usable scenarios. So when your table throws you a curveball, you can still present them with a fully-realized encounter or series of encounters which will be satisfying." - R.P. Davis

"Adaptable NPCs is a fantastic resource to help DMs in a pinch. Don't be surprised if some of these NPCs become the foundations for the most memorable characters in your Dungeons & Dragons campaign!" - Christian Hoffer (comicbook.com)

"Adaptable NPCs is a true hidden gem. From Dukes, Dragoons and Drunkards, to Scholars, Scoundrels and Seers, this supplement provides a much needed expansion for Dungeon Masters looking to pull out quick NPCs on the fly. Buy it and bring it to your table. You won't regret it." - Vall does DnD

"Even if you don’t need more NPC tools, the artwork alone is amazing. Combine that with the fact that you get 8 short adventures, complete with maps and tokens for all 70 NPCs, and you’re getting a lot." - Tommy Williams (geektyrant.com)

It will work with FGU, but the battle maps do not currently have LoS.

Will this work with Roll20?

It will not. Fantasy Grounds is a different virtual tabletop, which has an agreement to sell their products on the DMsGuild. Roll20 has no such arrangement to my knowledge. For roll 20, you would need to purchase the PDF version and input the information yourself.

I was unaware that the NPCs are read only. Would be nice to be able to assign them names and modify them to fit a group's CR. Otherwise, the mod seems to be everything it promises to be.

Hi Michel,

Locking the module is fairly typical during the conversion process. If you would like to rename the NPC to something else (which I also do it my own games), simply open the NPC window tab (where all the NPCs from the module are located), click and hold on the pin for the NPC you want to rename and drag and drop elsewhere in the NPC window tab. Doing this will make a 'copy' of the NPC which is not locked, and can then be renamed.

Cheers,
Trev

Yes it does. Each piece of art has been converted into a token for inclusion in this module.

Great stuff Trevor. Somehow I missed the announcement when this was first published so I'm glad that I received the notice of the revision update. I now have it in my library to use. Keep up the awesome work!

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
