A satisfying conclusion to an interesting series. Like the first part, this part puts most of the emphasis on non-combat action, and the players have to rely on subterfuge to get what they need. I thought the fish and kidnapped side-quests were very satisfying and added more stakes to the adventure.

I'm glad you enjoyed it! Your comment is much like a review and others might find it helpful if you want to enter it as such. As the author, I'd appreciate it as well :-)

I hope it's OK, but in my local Adventurers League chapter (we're called "Knights of the Coast" because we live on the coastal plain) the organizers purchase the adventures, and then we run them - so I don't have it in my library, and so I can't write it as a review. If you can think of a solution to this, I'd *love* to post this as a review.

On page 5 under Ahmaergo it starts "For a 100 gp, ..." What does that mean exactly? That the PCs have to spend 100gp to have the skull delivered? Also would be a good idea to point to the skulls properties here (they are on page 9).

Yes. It costs 100 gp for that option.

I recently submitted an update to this adventure. Until it actually arrives on DMs Guild, here are the critical modifications...
* Background, p. 2: Delete the paragraph starting "The beholder wastes no time".
* Appendix 2, p. 17: Add Ahmaergo statistics from Waterdeep Dragon Heist, p. 193. Add Air Elemental from Monster Manual, p. 124. Add Ott Steeltoes statistics from Waterdeep Dragon Heist, p. 214. Add Sylgar statistics (quipper without Blood Frenzy).

In episode 2A, Grumble claims that the magic crystals are activated at night. However, there is no mention of this property in the description of sentry. Since the characters visit the ship in the morning if using bonus objective B to enter the ship, this is confusing. Are crystals active or not during the day? I supposed yes and that the information of Grumble was wrong.

During normal operation hours for the gang, they are not actively scanning unless specified otherwise in the scene. The gang doesn't want to set them off accidentally as they move about.

Appendix 2 does not have the statistics for the air elemental in Episode 3 Scene Q.

Thanks for the update. It is possible that it was accidentally dropped during editing or layout. Fortunately, the air elemental can be found in the Basic Rules as well as the Monster Manual.

I don't yet have the published pdf but I do have the final draft I submitted. In my draft, it appears on the same page as Ahmaergo and is to the right. Just to verify, it is not there, correct? I'll see what I can do about updating the adventure, but I don't have direct access to the file.

A shield dwarf is a mountain dwarf of northern Faerun.

Like many NPCs, Ahmaergo doesn't have a level. His game statistics are defined in Appendix 2.

Ahmaergo is mention by name about 26 times. In Appendix 1 page 14 it is mentioned he is a shield dwarf. Appendix 2 does not have him by name or shield dwarf. The only other shied dwarf is Ott. Who is a cultist. I am making Ahmaergo a Blackguard since that was the boss of 08-11.

Ahmaergo was the first entry in Appendix 2 in my draft. Unfortunately, I still don't have my author's copy of the published adventure. His statistics originally appeared in Waterdeep: Dragon Heist. They are included below...

If you going to update the pdf, mention in Appendix 1 he was in waterdeep heist. For people who owe WDH. He is on page 193.

And thanks for the review. (Honestly, thanks to anyone who has taken the time to write a review - many don't.) I'm just back from a convention with another one coming up so I still haven't submitted corrections, but I still hope to address your editing concerns. You definitely have a point that the ship is small. My own thought process was that this is just one of Xanathar's bases. The beholder normally only travels through the ship using trapdoors and the one door to the audience chamber. It really doesn't visit the rest of the ship. That's for his gang. Of course, this is just a look from the designer's lens; it doesn't negate your opinion. I have to admit: one reason for the location was that I just loved the idea of exploring a ship hanging from the cavern ceiling.

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
