Places to Rest

ADD TO WISHLIST >

Undermountain is a dangerous place! Once intrepid explorers run out of magic and stamina, they face two choices: risk a rest in the dungeon or a long, perilous trek back to the surface. And even if they find a place that might be suitable for camping, other denizens of the level might be hunting them – most of the creatures have been there longer than the PCs and they know all the nooks and crannies… Well, almost all of them!

Places to Rest offers 22 rooms, one per level (except the final one), for Dungeon of the Mad Mage. They save the characters unnecessary, time-consuming trips up and down the megadungeon. Each area, once secured, provides the characters with a temporary small game mechanics bonus, for example a few more hit points, a minor spell-like ability, or damage resistance. There is also treasure to be found in each area. All of this makes the exploration more meaningful and fun!

Finally, to find each of these secret rooms, the characters are provided with cryptic clues. Once all are solved, and all the rooms found, the characters gain a powerful ally to aid them in the final showdown.

Each room and its characteristics are presented on a separate page – just print it out and add to your DM notes for the given level. For VTT users, there are separate files with the floor plans.

So, gather the clues and go deeper and deeper… At least you’ll die well-rested!

See the preview above for a sample room!

With this purchase you get:

- a PDF file describing all the rooms

- a set of background-less maps you can easily slap over your main map in a VTT, or print out and use at the table

This product is compatible with Options for Trollskull Manor.

Dude love the concept but i'm really dissapointed you kept the white background to each image. I want to be able to slap it over the matching corridor and it won't be noticeable with a great white corner peaking into adjacent rooms. I got to do some photoshop work but it won't be as good as if the white background was removed.

yes, also the trapdoor of the first image or the first room is part of the image so all my players can see there is a suspicious green t-square suspiciously left there :P

Ok that's an embarrassing mistake. I've added no background files, please download. I'll add player maps soon too - the traps etc. usually are immediately activated or visible, so there is little need for them, but each of us has their own playstyle. Please contact me via facebook and I'll send you one other title to compensate your troubles :)

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
