The Mascherari (5e)

ADD TO WISHLIST >

A new arcane Charisma half caster to stand alongside the ranger and paladin. The mascherari is a hybrid class, capable of filling in many roles in a party. You can be a capable melee warrior with the Tragedy archetype; a prolific spellcaster/party face with the soliloquy archetype; an agile fighter capable of battlefield control with the mimos archetype; or a versatile blue mage-type of character, capable of harvesting traits from monsters you fight with the bisclavret archetype.

Many of your abilities are powered by the magical masks you make and wear. You can borrow traits from your allies to shore up your weaknesses or steal from the foes you have defeated.

This class is still in development but it has reached a point I am comfortable with sharing among you fine folk. Any feedback I receive will help refine this class. Thank you for checking it out!

I am still learning design layout so I apologise for the lack of art and (possible) poor design of the pdf. I you have feedback on that, you can find me at @Occams_Lazer on twitter.

This is my first actual class design (the rest have been subclasses/races) so this might not be fully balanced, but I have playtested it in multiple scenarios and I intended to scale things back or improve things with feedback. This is not the final product. I want to make it the best I can.

Update: I feel a lot more confident doing classes now that I've got a couple under my belt so I decided to come back to this and make some changes. There's a general formatting change to fit my current style. I lowered the amount of spells you know as you level to fit more in line with the ranger's number of known spells and you can now swap your cantrips out as you gain levels. You don't get a second lot of Expertise skills. The Roll Call abilities now scale with level but you need to attune to a mask with Roll Call to gain its benefits (I feel that its worth the trade-off since Roll Call has some powerful effects). Encore was moved to 14th level since previously it was a dead level for features gained. Tragedy only gets one extra attack, not two. Wall of Farce had some clarifications regarding the how it appears. You get more uses of Wall of Farce as you gain levels too. Bisclavret's Sheep in Wolf's Clothing feature now works while you're wearing armor, and you can choose between which AC calculation you want to use.

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
