Domain of Dread: Celdon

ADD TO WISHLIST >

A Brand New Ravenloft Domain for 5th Edition Inspired by A Christmas Carol.

Included in this PDF is:

  • A history of the City of Celdon's Fall and its current state.
  • A map of Celdon and a description of each district of the city
  • Business names for each city district
  • a List of Random NPC names
  • Stats on 2 new Villains

Celdon is an industrial city that is populated by a downtrodden working class, a cruel white collar elite, rebellious beggars, and ghosts which wander the streets day and night and act as judges. Aleister Scrimp is a cold, miserly old man and every Midwinter the city descends into a ghostly maelstrom. The terrible living conditions and horrifying display which occurs every Midwinter has beaten the holiday spirit and joy from most in the city. Can you save it and return warmth and good cheer to the people? Ezra bless us, everyone!

What level of characters would work well here? My party is 5th level, but may hit 6th by the end of the adventure that I am wrapping up in the next week or two. Trying to figure out if this will be a good fit for their next extra-dimensional jaunt.

Hello! I ran this adventure for level 6 characters. Depending on your party The boss might be a little intense, but there are notes and suggestions for either using a toned down version or a different (less powerful) NPC as a boss. And as it’s Ravenloft, you perhaps don’t even have to fight the boss if you can help the people find the spirit of Midwinter once more. If you’re interested you can watch me run a mini campaign if you search YouTube for “celdon laughingdragoninn.” There are 3 episodes. Thank you!!

Aleister Scrimp is pretty cool with his spells though would it be dominate beast (Level 4) or person (Level 5) rather than dominate monster as that is a level 8 spell and all the ones he can cast from that list are 1-5?

I like the idea of it i may send one of my groups here closer to the time

We have a large group of rpg here in Rio de Janeiro (BRAZIL), and we will start our next campaign in RAVENLOFT.
I was very interested in your new Ravenloft domain, and would like to know some information please.
Does he have a Black Lord?
Do you have a summary of cities and maps?
Complete descriptions of Fauna, flora, society and monsters?

Hi Bruno! I’d be happy to answer your questions.
The Dark Lord is a greedy and cruel money-lender named Aleister Scrimp. He is like Ebenezer Scrooge if Scrooge never learned any lessons from the Ghosts. Instead he hates Midwinter (Christmas) more than ever. There are full stats for him in the product as well as how he fell and how he acts.
The whole realm is a single city named Celdon, there is a map with a breakdown of each district of the city in the product.
The book documents the society of the city and has 2 brand new villains stats, it doesn’t go into great detail on the flora and fauna of the city (it is so polluted neither are very prominent)
I hope that helps and thank you for your interest!

I bought and I'm reading CELDON, but I had some initial doubts.
CELDON is what technological level of Ravenloft (8 or 9)?
Is he an island of terror?
How do I get from another domain from Ravenloft to CELDON? Are there any Mistways?
Is the Lord of the CELDON domain able to close the borders of the domain? As?
Is there any list of other creatures found in celdon?

Celdon is an Industrial Age City.
It would be considered an Island domain yes.
I’m sorry I’m not familiar with the term Mistaway. But it’s meabt to be an isolated domain, one that wouldn’t be easily accessible from others.
The creatures in the city are mostly human NPCs and undead. The Urban charts you can find in Mordekanin’s Tome Of Foes would work well.

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
