Return to Where the Forgotten Realms Began!

The Moonshae Isles, beautiful and dangerous, provide adventurers the opportunity to fight evil — and uncover ancient secrets and treasures. When a mysterious figure predicts a grave future
for you, it triggers an Isles-spanning adventure full of intrigue, fun, and danger!

MOON 1-1 Moonshae Treasure Hunt is our first adventure in our exciting new D&D Adventurers League campaign – Rising Shadows. Four 90 minute adventures for 1st and 2nd level aspiring new adventurers in the Moonshae Isles. Get to know some of the locals, personalities, and threats that will be facing you as we continue to rollout adventures this year and well into 2020. The campaign is designed to take a new Moonshae character from 1st level all the way through the end of Tier 3 (and perhaps beyond) using slow advancement. That is a lot of adventuring coming your way and it all starts here.

Interested in our campaign guide full of history, culture, player options, backgrounds, and some really sweet maps?  We can do that – Moonshae Isles Regional Guide

Interested in high quality color/B&W maps, character art, and nice handouts for this adventure? Our artists have done some really nice work you can find here to enhance your game.

About Baldman Games

Baldman Games are gamers, DMs, and writers, who love D&D. We’ve been running shows since 2001 starting with small regional shows in NE Ohio (All Americon & MVC) and grew quickly to adding Origins in 2004 and Winter Fantasy/DDXP & Gencon in 2005. We added organized play to our plate in 2011 with Ashes of Athas – our in-house Dark Sun campaign. In 2014 we added PAX Prime to our plate and have expanded upon that in 2015. And in 2018, we introduced Season of the Rising Shadows for the Adventurer’s League, a series of adventurers set in the Moonshae Islands.

Is there a way to get the map & art pack that is linked in the description? Page comes up as missing.

We went ahead and added the map and art pack to the adventure itself. Just download them (and I'll try to get that link removed).

WARNING: MINOR SPOILERS! My wife and I just came back from a local con where this was featured, and we played it as our first mod in the AL with our freshly minted 1st level characters (we had 4 players total). I'll preface this comment by saying that I understand the quality and experience of any module is subject to the way the DM runs it, and the liberties they take with it, but unfortunately we had not-so-fun experience. So much so that had I been a brand-new player, I might not want to play another AL adventure (a sentiment shared by my wife, who is a new player).

I've not read the module myself (just experienced it) but our main issue with it was the final combat, where the DM insisted that the sahuagin would go out of their way to kill any elves in the party, going so far as to ignore sound tactics, just so they could kill the elf (even after the elf PC is down)...and that's exactly what happened. Now, the MM only mentions the sahuagin's (sea) elven enmity in passing, and certainly doesn't...See more

100% not how it is written. There is not a single adventure in the almost 100 we have done up to this point where we have ever ever ever written an encounter to single out somebody much less write it to kill them. MOON 1-1 is supposed to be an easy fun romp through the Moonshae Isles to introduce the characters to places, people, and things that they will see again in future adventures in the series. We have run this adventure for almost 4,000 players just on our own at this point and it is extremely well loved and fun (and I cannot remember the last time I heard somebody dying in it outside of REALLY bad luck or the player just doing something super silly and stupid). Sorry you had DM set on not running a fun game.

Thank you for that clarification, David. I was hoping it was the DM taking way too many liberties, but I just couldn't imagine someone simply making up so much of the encounter out of whole cloth. Though from what you're saying, it looks like that's exactly what he did. Now I'm miffed we weren't able to experience it as intended, but glad to know that this is not something we can expect from the series going forward (and now we know to avoid that particular DM). Thanks again for replying, and setting the record straight.

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.
Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
