Critically Awesome Essentials is an extension framework used for the Fantasy Grounds VTT. It uses modules for different functions.

As Critically Awesome Essentials continues to add functions to Fantasy Grounds, several modules will be released with different functions. Many are already in development!

The first one, presented here with the extension, concerns wild shape functionality for Druids. DM's and player's lives just got a WHOLE LOT easier...

Have you ever wanted to play a druid shapeshifter on Fantasy Grounds, but the prep-work was too much? Wish you could have all the versatility but didn't want to spend hours memorizing information?

Well, Druid is now less intensive to prepare, like any other spellcaster.

No more stat blocks!

No more multitudes of character sheets!

Minimal research!

And some great game magic, never seen before!!!

Critically Awesome Essentials is an extension that will change the way you game. It adds functionality to Fantasy Grounds that will skyrocket your gaming experience.

The first module developed is free and included with this extension:

Module #1 - One-Click Druids

This will make Wildshape shape-changing a breeze. The most notable feature is the token change and size adjustment when the shifted effect is applied to the character. All of the wild shapes are stored in Wildshape "spells". They are coded with all the stat changes, attacks, effects, and more! Simply drag the "spell" to your actions tab, click the effect inside the "spell", and watch the magic as you have everything you need, as your new beast form, at your fingertips!

The "spell" descriptions have brief summaries of the beast shapes, explanation of special beast abilities, suggested uses for the Wildshape form, and links to the NPC stat blocks (Mainly intended for the DM to verify information, MUST HAVE Monster Manual and/or Volo's Guide to Monsters loaded to view stat blocks).

Keep in mind again that Critically Awesome Essentials is an extension that will use different modules in its framework. Module #1 is presented here and included. Does this work in conjunction with barbarian rage? IE a multi class druid barbarian. They can rage and then wild shape into a bear. The standard effect to add to the CT for a raging barbarian is Rage;ADVCHK:strength;ADVSAV:strength;DMG:2, melee;RESIST:bludgeoning,slashing,piercing;[SELF]. The concern is, based on the video above, the animal form attacks are in the spells section of the actions tab so the "DMG:2, melee" won't be added to the attack damage.

You are correct, since they are spells it does not work as listed... However instead of DMG: 2 melee; try DMG: 2 slashing,piercing,bludgeoning... Or you could just use DMG:2; in the meantime Until I get it working correctly... Thank you for bringing this to my attention!

Nice addition to my FG collect of toys, but hate the fact if there is a misclick it could change your stats on the regular druids form. Suggestion to all DM's that use this, take a picture or make note someplace of the druids original stats so you can correct them when the stats don't change back to what they are supposed to be when the druid is just the druid. My players druids stats are all jacked up now and have no idea what his base stats are anymore.....

While we appreciate your review, we did fully test this today. The stats were changing back and forth with no problems. Can you tell us specifically which forms you were using and give us a chance to double check it? We are very disappointed to receive a 2-star review without being given a chance to fix what's wrong. As far as we knew you were the first to say anything about stats not going back to the originals. Please help us to fix this by giving us specifics. ThanX so much...

The next update should be out within the next week. We are trying to put into place extra safeguards to try and prevent any further issues, like possible double clicking and such... Also to try to prevent the variable overwriting when more than one form is initiated before reverting...

Like Rob mentioned, we have tested it and it is working as it is supposed to. Was there a specific form, or chain of events that you may be able to provide so we can see if there's an issue we are unaware of?

You are disappointed in me providing a review on a product that I purchased that is not working as intended when I purchased it or as advertised? wow ok....Second, there is a user stating the same problem below (Dec 16th) from John H. My player had a few issues with changing. First the token for the bear was not showing up, on the first session we tried using it, the next session it worked just fine. My player went from a bear, got cooked a few times from a fire elemental, and then decided to shift to a giant hyena to get that 50 feet of movement to try to out run it. When the combat ended, his stats were changed when he changed back to a normal druid (human). His str wis int cha all went back to normal, but his dex and con were changed. Player even said wow ok I have a 17 dex now. I am not sure if there is a order of operations when changing back and forth, but from what I understand stats and everything should revert back to normal once the druid is in his starting form which it didn't. sorry for the delay in updates, however I am striving to ensure a quality extension is released. The current update is a significant overhaul coding wise to make things better, and prepare the framework for the near future upgrades to the extension. I will be releasing a (half) update this weekend hopefully. Then the full update by the next week or so. After that you will see some more significant features being implemented (like choosing your own token choices for shapes, etc.)

It is open for anyone to make their own personal Modules. However the Extension Framework is closed for outside development. If you wish to help further development, feel free to message myself (Diablobob) or Rob2e on discord, with what you wish to develop, and we can further assist/work with you.

If you want to make personal use modules (non-distributed) you can contact us if you have any questions about call-outs or formatting.

We are working to make the future versions of the extension and all future modules more malleable to the needs of the users (i.e. being able to turn off or enable selected features, or to include home-brew content easily)

At this time I do not have a comprehensive list posted online. I am adding instructions with a template to input your own wildshape for now. (inside the "One Click Druid" module). More will come as I have time to post updates.

I have not tried it with advanced kombat... I will check to see if it's compatible... If it currently isn't, then it will be within the next couple weeks hopefully... The improvements that are in the works will deconflict any issues these 2 extensions will have...

Very nicely done. For some reason, the token size is changing, but the graphic isn't. I have tried disabling all the extensions to make sure there isn't a conflict. This problem is happening even if it is the only extension loaded.

lol, yes... apparently i lagged and it posted a blank comment...

Round tokens will be coming... due to the size of .png files and trying to keep the .ext file small, to keep things from getting sluggish, the round tokens will be coming in a future update.

Couple of question/notes since playing with it.

Not trying to give a bad review... its the opposite it worth the money for it just in time savings alone, automatic token changes :), auto knocking you out of wildshape when taken to or below 0 while in form and if over-damaged correctly applies to normal form :), plus the notes/guide are really well laid out and informative.

But wanted to list/inform by some notes so far which i am assuming is due to limitation of the Fantasy ground software itself.

1. Doesn't appear to revert back to original stats if by accident double clicked the affect and then removed them. Seems to only revert back to what ever the current stats were before the last effect is applied. (Any way to store the base line value by another effect to get and keep the values then store them with something like NHealth,NSTR, etc... effect?)
2. Doesn't like Monks or Barbarians UD. Trait. (using the cr1 brown bear as a example: It overwrite the armor value...See more

These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.
Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
