Critically Awesome Essentials is an extension framework used for the Fantasy Grounds VTT. It uses modules for different functions.

Now includes CUSTOM tokens, CUSTOM monster shapes, and functionality for one-click polymorph, shape change, and disguise. WOW!

Also now includes “Token Stack resolution”

As Critically Awesome Essentials continues to add functions to Fantasy Grounds, several modules will be released with different functions. Many are already in development!

The first one, presented here with the extension, concerns wild shape functionality for Druids. DM's and player's lives just got a WHOLE LOT easier...

---

Have you ever wanted to play a druid shapeshifter on Fantasy Grounds, but the prep-work was too much? Wish you could have all the versatility but didn't want to spend hours memorizing information?

Well, Druid is now less intensive to prepare, like any other spellcaster.

No more stat blocks!

No more multitudes of character sheets!

Minimal research!

And some great game magic, never seen before!!!

Critically Awesome Essentials is an extension that will change the way you game. It adds functionality to Fantasy Grounds that will skyrocket your gaming experience.

The first module developed is free and included with this extension:

Module #1 - One-Click Druids

This will make Wildshape shape-changing a breeze. The most notable feature is the token change and size adjustment when the shifted effect is applied to the character. All of the wild shapes are stored in Wildshape "spells". They are coded with all the stat changes, attacks, effects, and more! Simply drag the "spell" to your actions tab, click the effect inside the "spell", and watch the magic as you have everything you need, as your new beast form, at your fingertips!

The "spell" descriptions have brief summaries of the beast shapes, explanation of special beast abilities, suggested uses for the Wildshape form, and links to the NPC stat blocks (Mainly intended for the DM to verify information, MUST HAVE Monster Manual and/or Volo's Guide to Monsters loaded to view stat blocks).

Enough waiting! Enough prepping! Let's GAME!

5 STARS

This is a great idea, cutting edge, and community-driven project! Kudos to Rob and Bob for this awesome addition to the existing FG software.

#1 - One-Click Druid - Released and included with Critically Awesome Essentials

#2 - One-Click More - Released and AVAILABLE HERE

First I would like to express my great appreciation for bringing this to my attention. I figured out what the issue was and I have corrected it. I have submitted the fixed version of the ext for posting, it should be available for download shortly.

There is. Make sure you download the latest copy and check the instructions. You can put in your own custom tokens. If you have further problems, contact us in the Rob2e Discord. Link is in the module.

The latest update added the Polymorph shapes in the .mod file. All of the Polymorph shapes from the PHB, MM, and VGM on top of the already existing wildshapes. There was a quick update like a day after the Polymorph update, that corrected a couple of small typos in descriptions.

New features will be coming soon, I’m currently working on more content before delving too deep back into the back-end code.

Amazing work. Thank you. Although it does seem kind of crappy to have to pay $150 for a program, $60 for the 3 core books, more money for whatever campaign one buys, and then have to pay another $10 to get the functionality of a basic class feature of a base class that should have been included already.

That's a common comment people make, but SmiteWorks is just a small company with a handful of people. It's not a powerhouse like WotC or Paizo. They do priority work, so they have the intent to put "everything" in, but there are only so many hours in a day. Thankfully they allow people like me to make things for others to enjoy the software better.

Loving the recent updates, the players love to customize their tokens. It is really nice to be able to make tokens for disguises as well! Wondering if we can replace the flat hp of the wild shapes with the dice expressions. I have tried editing the effect but that didn't seem to work

At this time, It does not have that capability, I have not incorporated that ability as of yet... obviously as I work toward the animating/adding additional spell automations, this will be useful... I will certainly add that to my list for development, and hopefully get to it very soon... capturing a dice roll is fairly easy... but will need to make sure it applies appropriately without messing up other functions...

Thank you for the suggestion and support! Some additional updates will be coming out soon...

Ok so I purchased this watched the video and none of that is happening for me. I click the effect and nothing happens no token is being added no stats are changing nothing seems to be working apart from the attacks below the shapeshift effect, now maybe I am just being silly or not understanding how it works but any help would wildly be welcomed!

James. Please ensure that the .ext is in your FG extensions folder and TURNED ON before you start FG. Also, ensure that the .mod file is in your FG modules folder and OPENED in the library. Fully read the instructions. There are troubleshooting techniques in the instructions. Let us know if this resolves your issues.

Also be sure that the character is added to the combat tracker, and that the Extension is loaded as well as the DM having the module loaded.

The token images and shifted effects, and pretty much everything uses the references from the Combat Tracker.

The token images are in the module, that is why the module needs to be loaded.

Why is it that people with name Rob or Bob are so awesome? Because they create amazing content like this!! What a game (literally game) changer (or wildshape changer !). In old German Robert means "man of shining fame". Well, you both share an amazing name history and continue to produce "shining" examples of fantastic work! Well Done Robs! I can't wait to try out some of the other aspects of this add on! Thank you both!

I haven't had a chance to do any real testing on my end. That said... Have there been any complaints about this mod slowing down Combat Tracker updates?

I run two different groups in FG with all the same plug-ins in each Campaign, except for this one (one group has no druid). When running for the druid group, there appears to be a few seconds of lag before damage shows in the combat tracker. For the no-druid group, the CT updates instantaneously.

(Mind you, it works brilliantly otherwise, so there's no way I'm going to run without it. Kudos.)

I can let DiabloBob speak to this as well (if there’s anything to say) but in our Friday game I was using this for my Druid (until he was epically killed by a mimic). We noticed no such lag.

Also 200+ people (at this point) are using this and we’ve had no such reports.

Fair enough. It's an entirely different group of players in each group, and that plugin is the only difference on my end. I'm going to blame it on their ends. :)

Occasionally there may be a slight lag with token swap-out (I'll explain below), it should not happen all the time, and I haven't seen any lag with the CT. If it happens all the time, I would verify settings and such. Additionally if you are running the "Current HP" ext, that extension has been causing intermittent problems with One-Click Druid. I am working to try to figure out why the random issues are happening. It is the only extension that I have found that has any sort of compatibility issue.

The only lag should be occasionally when the token changes. This is due to using an OOB message to ensure compatibility. The reason for the lag is that the host is flagged to run the process instead of the player. If the host computer is busy processing another function, than you will will see up to about a 1-2 second delay.

Currently custom token selection ability is being developed and should be released within the next 2 weeks.

If you need to change the used tokens before then, open the .mod file with a zip program, and replace the default tokens in the tokens folder, make sure the name of the file stays consistent. After that is done, make sure the file is zipped and change the file extension back to .mod

I hope this helps! Soon you will be able to identify custom token selections from within FG. Like I said, it's being developed now, and should be released in the next 2 weeks.

Custom token selection is now active!!! There are detailed instructions in the current update (in a story entry)... but I will try to summarize it quickly here:
Go to notes tab of character.
Type in shape name: example - BrownBear
Click shift type: example- Wildshape
Drag desires token to the token field there.

Custom selection will now work for that character when they shift into that shape! (BrownBear for example)... also all the druids in your game can have and use different tokens for the same shape!...

Enjoy!

We are aware of Minty's extension, and support his work. However, there is more than one way to skin a cat! His extension requires shared statblocks and such. As well as his extension is only going to focus on Druid Wildshapes. Our extension currently performs the wildshape in a different way, and streamlines the functions and attacks that the wildshape does and does not need the DM to intervene with statblocks or to initiate a wildshape.

It should be noted that neither programmer OWNS wildshape. Again, we support his work! He is a very talented programmer. And I have contacted him on his forum on several occasions to offer suggestions or assistance with issues that he had been encountering. He is a very upstanding guy.

CAE is not only focused on Druid wildshapes, and we are trying to enhance fantasy grounds (specifically 5e in FG). Developement has been slow due to medical issues I've been battling, however the next update will be big, and should be released in the next week or 2. ...See more

We fixed the problem last night so it is no longer giving that error. I don't know how to replicate it, but it was doing so even on the 5e sample campaign with no other extensions loaded. It was fixed by removing the character from the map and party window, and re-adding to the party and then to the map. The same fix worked for all campaigns we loaded up and found the error happening in. I think in all cases, the character was already on the map when the game loaded.

Out of all of them - the basic sample campaign is having the most issue with the extension, however. (Maybe because I wasn't careful when playing with it?) It currently will not revert the character portraits on removing an effect, nor will it remove the shape effect by clicking the same form again. It just adds a second effect to the character inside the CT. I cannot get it to fix this behavior. That said, this is currently not affecting our actual campaign, and seems to be working fine now. Sorry for the trouble.

Just bought this, and although I do love the concept and the extension itself already - It doesn't work along with the Advanced Kombat successor, 5e combat enhancer (By Styrmir on FG forums).
I'm hoping this could be an easy fix, as I love both of these extensions. As of right now, most functions of the wild shape extention do not work while running both of these wonderful extensions.

Erin:

It is quite common for extensions to "not play nice together" and is difficult and sometimes impossible to make that happen. We are AWARE of this and do everything we can to work with other creators, but we cannot guarantee compatibility with extensions other creators make because these are all external coding efforts and are most often uncoordinated and even in cases where coordination is implemented, because of various programming language "situations", extensions cannot be made to work together. It's a known issue. We all do the best we can.

Any date you see on the right that doesn't match the changelog is probably some dumb spelling error fix or something like that which isn't really a reportable change. The changelog and updates are correct. ALWAYS! That's how we do!

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.
Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
