Critically Awesome Essentials is an extension framework used for the 5th Edition D&D ruleset in the Fantasy Grounds VTT. It uses modules for different functions.

There should now be a total of 4 extension files... 2 for classic, and 2 for Unity.

Now includes CUSTOM tokens, CUSTOM monster shapes, and functionality for one-click polymorph, shape change, and disguise. WOW!

This now adds the ability to change tokens of players and NPCs on the fly, set custom “shapes”, and also resolves the ever pesky token stack issues. This works for the 5th Edition D&D ruleset.

Now includes "effects list" to use polymorph etc. DIRECTLY ON NPCs in the combat tracker. 

As Critically Awesome Essentials continues to add features for the 5E D&D ruleset for Fantasy Grounds, several modules will be released with different content. Many are already available or in development!

The first one, presented here with the extension, concerns wild shape functionality for Druids in the 5th edition D&D ruleset. DM's and player's lives just got a WHOLE LOT easier...

Critically Awesome Essentials is an extension that will change the way you game. It adds functionality to Fantasy Grounds that will skyrocket your gaming experience.

The first module developed is free and included with this extension:

Module #1 - One-Click Druids

This will make D&D 5E Wildshape shape-changing a breeze. The most notable feature is the token change and size adjustment when the shifted effect is applied to the character. All of the wild shapes are stored in Wildshape "spells". They are coded with all the stat changes, attacks, effects, and more! Simply drag the "spell" to your actions tab, click the effect inside the "spell", and watch the magic as you have everything you need, as your new beast form, at your fingertips!

The "spell" descriptions have brief summaries of the beast shapes, explanation of special beast abilities, suggested uses for the Wildshape form, and links to the 5E NPC stat blocks (Mainly intended for the DM to verify information, MUST HAVE Monster Manual and/or Volo's Guide to Monsters loaded to view stat blocks).

I play in a game where the druid uses this module/extension and it works flawlessly. When I tried it tonight the party druid would get the stat change effect (really cool by the way) but not the token and token size changes. Any suggestions?

This extension worked great up until recently. Something may have changed in Fantasy Grounds itself to cause this. Recently whenever just about any action is taken in the combat tracker (adding a character to the tracker, changing targets, going to the next character's turn) the logs report the following error:

[ERROR] window: Control () anchoring to an undefined control (header_toggles) in windowclass (combattracker_host)

This error doesn't appear if I launch fantasy grounds with this plugin disabled. It doesn't seem to block any functionality of the plugin but it is quite annoying having the logs pop up every time I do anything in the tracker. I'd appreciate any help to resolve this whether it takes a patch or something I can do myself to mitigate this. I can also provide a log file of this occurring.

Follow up: I decided to try redownloading the extension in case an update was pushed and that seems to have fixed this issue. Extension is working great again.

I apologize for having to check for the updates. I wish there was a better method to provide updates. I do try to keep the updates feature or fix “rich” so the updates are not as painful

Wouldn't using the Fantasy Grounds Forge resolve the checking for updates issue?

Edit: This would only apply to new purchases, though. I believe.

I am getting an error whenever a character in wildshape takes damage and no damage is given to the druid. This did not start happening until about a month ago. Is this something that can be fixed?

Hi BobbyJo. I am also having this issue since the latest FGU update. Seems to be happening to all wildshapes. The error message that comes up when you try to roll damage on the person who is wildshaped is: [ERROR] Handler error: [string "scripts/manager_action_damage.lua"]:1024: bad argument #1 to 'match' (string expected, got nil).

Everything else is working for the extension though.

I recently bought CAE for the use of One Click Druid and the Spell Tokens auto targeting. The One Click Druid is working great! I can place the spell token on a map surrounding player tokens but when I press the target button (that replaced the token image in the spell info) no targets are added. I don't know if this is due to a recent FGU update or not. I just tried it for the first time today. Also, my players were indicating they could not move their tokens and the map was flickering/refreshing every second or two. Since I just installed CAE, I turned 'off' all the options in the Options screen and that fixed the issue for our game, but now all those features are off.

Hi, I'm a FGU user. I loaded the two modules in the library. I put the extesion file in the FGU Extension folder, but I don't see the extension on the FGU loading screen.
I see the spells, but when I use it, I only see the effect being applied to the character, the token picture doesn't change, neither the character stats. What am I doing wrong?

i am using this on FGU and it wont change the player token to the new form he stays as he is a a little effect icon comes over his token, but the stats and hp dont change is there some thing i am missing thanks for any and all help

Make sure you are ONLY using the FGU compatible version... the other 2 extension files are for classic... additionally make sure you (if you are the DM) has the one-click druid module loaded... if you have further issues, please come to the discord server in the readme file and we will help you get everything working as intended...

When a creature has a skill and I have a skill it is adding the modifiers together rather than selecting the higher modifier. (i.e., Perception - I have +5 owl has +3 it rolls skill with a +8. I've tested with various wildshapes and it does the same thing.

Hi,
I am running CAE 1.86 with latest FGU and mad mage. I also have the latest rob2e effects coding - spells. When I use a spell token (e.g. spirit guardians) as the GM and drag and drop to an intersection I correctly get a single token on the map of the correct size: 17.5 foot radius. When I use a spell token as a client it drops two tokens: one 2 foot radius and one 22 foot radius.

Do you see this?

These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
