Certainly will, although it will be a while since I plan to start in the summer.

Part of the 'fun' will be figuring out how to adapt the maps to Roll20. : P

Let me see what I can do on that front as well. I have very limited time for the coming weeks due to a high volume of freelance work, but maybe I can put together some gridless versions of the maps for VTT use.

I play DnD with my 7 and 10 year old kids. They have no problem with the monsters or with the fighting that goes on, but as I looked at the preview, I am getting the sense that this adventure may have elements not suitable for kids of this age. What, pray tell, does a masochist's potion (or whatever it was called) do? Can anyone who's bought this adventure comment on its appropriateness for young kids?

Matt,

As the author, I do not mind telling you that there are elements of this adventure that I would find problematic running for young kids. The Cult of Rakdos, who are the primary antagonists in this module, are pretty debased and violent. Some of the items, trinkets, and themes are just not appropriate for young kids.

Thank you!

Thank you for the fast and frank reply. My kids love DnD and are totally jazzed by the Ravnica setting. If you are so inclined, it would be great to have a follow up to Off to a Weird Start that is a little more kid appropriate. You'd have one customer for sure :)

Matt,

You could, with a little work, set up the next adventure in the series, The Felicity Triskelion to be a direct sequel. Instead of the Weird heading to the Rakdos, you could have it head to the area detailed in that adventure. It's a little scary, but hat can be managed in your DM style. There's nothing inherently kid-unfriendly in that adventure.

The link is in the product description above.

Thanks,
Travis

P.S. I will also look into making some kid-friendly Ravnica resources. I love the setting, and there is definitely space for it.

I just read about Rakdos in the GGR. Let me be a bit more blunt in my question...does your module delve into S&M and other similar sexual things or is it torture and pain without a sexual overtone? I / we can deal with torture and twisted evil, but anything sexual is off the table for now. Thanks!

There is nothing graphically sexual in the book, and certainly nothing that is central to the plot. You will probably want to ignore or change the trinket table, and obviously alter whatever other set dressing you might find disturbing/inappropriate, but there's no reason you couldn't omit potentially problematic elements at your discretion. The plot is very straightforward interrogation/espionage. Difficult to say too much more without spoiling the story.

I hope this helps.

I bought this this morning and I'm glad I did. It will be very easy to modify the few things that might need modification to make it kid friendly. One of my original question was what, pray tell, does a masochist's potion do and I can say that given its result, I can easily change the name without losing anything. To the creators - nicely done.

I just read through the adventure and have a few things I noticed:

Hooks:
-Dimir 1 “you sent” should be “sent you”
-Golgari 1-“here” should be “her”
-Simic 1-“cam” to “calm”

1A. I’m a little confused about the layout of the stage. Can you change “room” to “stage” in the first sentence? That confused me for a second. Then the stage has barbed wire splitting it in half but people are throwing daggers at each other from opposite sides of the stage so I can’t picture where the barbed wire is. Also is there barbed wire surrounding the stage so it’s between the performers and the audience? I just couldn't get a clear picture in my mind where the barbed wire net was.

Is the only way to enter from the stage? If so should there be some more explanation about how to handle other options to get in other than paying the 1gp-what if the party fights the Rakdos to enter (is anyone inside alerted?) or what if they try and use Persuasion...See more

Jeremy,

Thanks much for the feedback! I appreciate the catches re: typos. In response to your points:

1A. the area is split vertically by the net. I can add some clarifying language there.

There is a sidebar regarding sneaking in. Persuasion to get in free is not included because it is not an option. I feel it would be a waste of space to account for every possibility (teleportation, charm, disguise self, Wild Shaping into a small sparrow) I trust DMs to sort that out on their own. Violence to get in is possible but as noted in the sidebar that describes sneaking in, there's a bit of a crowd watching and the Rakdos puppeteers are also watching the stage. Ultimately the DM can determine the response level, but my assumption would be that they would call to the guards posted throughout the structure in the event of non-scheduled violence. Unless the party made it one hell of a performance....

1D. The stairs are fully described and detailed in entry 2A. Again,...See more

I would like to, eventually, craft a separate adventure focusing on each Guild as the antagonist (whether more directly as the Rakdos are in this adventure, or indirectly as the Izzet are in Off to a Weird Start)

If I can connect all of those together with a narrative thread that makes sense and carries characters up into early Tier 3 play, I will do so.

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.
pixel_trans.gif
Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
