Crafting Encounters : Room 1

ADD TO WISHLIST >

Each of the encounters in this series can be slotted into an existing (dungeon based) adventure -OR- used with other 'rooms' from this range (or other DMsG products) to save you time when designing a dungeon from scratch.

Furthermore, each encounter also features:

  • Tips on how to build quick and easy terrain (for use with miniatures) for the encounter (links are provided to other pay-what-you-want products, along with the accompanying YouTube tutorials).
  • A (50 pixel per square) map of the room for use with virtual tabletops.
  • An upscaled version of the above map that can be used as an impromptu battlemap.

Note that this (single room) dungeon encounter is a suitable challenge for a level one/two party of four adventurers.

I've been very impressed with the products and videos; there's no shortage of great ways to utilize the print and paste terrain and maps. This is another example of an impressive product. Thanks again for all of your hard work!

I already grabbed few of your previous works for dungeon crafting for free. As I saw how amazingly these can be crafted and you are still adding new uses and projects, I decided one of them was my first PWYW product for which I was proud to actually pay for with some money I had saved. I didn't put any review of your stuff yet, but at least here I can say your work is just amazing and your video tutorials/instructions as well! So easy to craft and always new ideas coming with your new stuff. I am very thankful for your great input in crafting/gaming community! Cannot wait to get to play with some of new stuff from you. Keep up the great work Kristian and hail to Crooked Staff!

Thank you very much for the kind words - it's good to hear that you're enjoying (and hopefully finding a use for) this stuff. I have to admit that I'm a little nervous about bringing this stuff to the DMs Guild ...but we'll see how it goes :)

The beauty of simple resources like this is that it doesn't matter what edition (or for that matter, what RPG) you play. I'm interested, but I want to wait for a good time to actually buy rather than take it for free. :)

In all seriousness, just grab it for free. I'd much rather someone do that and actually find a use for it, than have them buy it and it languish on their hard drive (I'm sometimes guilty of the latter myself :) ). Plus you can always come back at a later date and throw a few coppers my way if you absolutely insist ;)

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
