Whatever happened to the baby from Against the Lightning? It's mentioned that it "may become important" later, but it's never brought up again.

Can it be clarified if the “main” magic item unlock requires attunement. On page 11 it very specifically says “identical to a <item name> (except it does not require attunement)” but in Appendix D it includes “(requires attunement by a spellcaster)”. Does specific (the earlier reference) beat general in this case?

Good catch! This item does not require attunement.

Does one need to do all the adventures before coming to this one? I kind of want to get back into DM'ing with a high level one-shot. I am not super used to doing these types of pre-made adventures.

Hi Lucas, there is guidance in the adventure showing you how to run it as a one-shot.

When these adventures were first announced it was said there would be a collected version available with print on demand, does anyone know if this is this still happening?

This is a really fun adventure! I'm about to run it for my group tonight and I'm really looking forward to it.

One burning question I have is: What keeps the party from instantly discovering the Well of Harmony? The door doesn't seem to be locked and once the glyph is triggered, it seems as though the well functions normally, with or without a password. If that's the intent them I'm happy to run it that way, I just don't want the party to miss out on exploring the rest of the facility.

Hi Michael,

Sorry I missed your message. Yes, it's possible that the group could find the Well of Harmony very quickly, though it's a little unlikely. I designed it that way because it seemed to make sense of the architecture. If the PCs do seem to be heading straight there, I would probably have the Darkwood Watch ambush them from behind, just to keep them on their toes...

cheers,

So, just to clarify: Do we roll for random loot? It seems to be the notion that there is no rolling for random loot in AL, though it is only specifically mentioned for ie. SKT in the CC.

What is the interpretation of the rules, given the rollable loot tables in this otherwise very fine module?

Hi Casper, I'm glad you like the adventure!

I've done random loot tables before in AL-legal stuff, but I'll check up on that for you. Unfortunately, I'm about to jump on a plane in a few hours time, so I'll have to chase this up when I get home in a week or so.

cheers!

Hahaha, no worries :) I've picked up the rollable loot discussion with AL Admins on Facebook, at it seems a little clarification is needed in the ALDMG. Long story short - just so everybody knows - from Amy is, that the limitation on rollable loot only covers the tables in the DMG, not the tables in the adventure modules.
So basically, all in all this should be good :)
Hope you had a safe flight :)

Iron Cobra and Nimblewright have their actions / reactions mixed up.

Light spoilers here - the payoff for running the Prologue really feels lackluster. The Prologue made a point of explaining to players the (N)PCs would return along with the Platinum Egret. 11 episodes later I exclaimed 'Finally!' while reading the summary for Bonus Objective B, but I'm left wondering if the inclusion in ELW11 was tacked on or always planned. I'm sure the AL style and the writing being split didn't help this, but I'm left disappointed with the incorporation. It's left in the hands of the DM to decide the fates of most of the prologue characters and also the Platinum Egret.

Maybe someone could write a supporting document to help thread the Prologue story in further, or the Prologue could be updated to lower expectations now that we have the entire AL module out.

Kudos all the same to the author. As a perk I now can't unsee the villain of the story being Dr. Wily from Mega Man with that soarsled...See more

Hi Matthew,

Thanks so much for pointing out the problem in the appendix. We worked very hard on the editing, but sometimes problems slip in at the last moment. We will fix that soon, and feel free to let us know if you see anything else.

With regards to the Prologue characters, do you have any thoughts on what would have made for a good resolution for them? When you finished the Prologue, what were the burning questions for you?

I'm glad you liked the climax! I'll be honest and say I wasn't thinking of Dr Wily, but it's a good fit! I was actually inspired by a very old D&D module called Bottle City by Rob Kuntz, that has a famous encounter with a witch named Ahsat who rides around in a flying cauldron. There's a very similar encounter with Baba Lysaga in Curse of Strahd. It's a fun idea, and I hope it plays well at your table!

I'm also disappointed with the ELW00 PCs being 99% forgotten. I'd really like to see them better folded into the other modules as recurring NPCs, minor or major.

<potential spoilers below>

As for the Platinum Egret, it's such a special thing I think it deserves its own module. But for now, here is a specific plotline I'm writing into my own version of ELW. Authors and other DMs feel free to use this as you see fit :)
0) Background: Lord of Blades found out about the Egret and felt it was paramount to find, "liberate", and co-opt it
1) In The Cannith Code and Against the Lightning there are references to the above happening, as foreshadowing that...
2) In Blades of Terror it is the source of the Warforged Assassins dropping out of the sky. It is damaged in the fight, leading to...
3) In The Killing Blade, Whisper was not only sabotaging airships, but was doing so to cover that he was actually pillaging parts to repair the Egret, which he secretly...See more

Hi Joel,

Those are some nice ideas. Under the terms of the DMs Guild, you could certainly publish a Platinum Egret supplement for the ELW series that developed this plot line further, and share your ideas with a wider audience, potentially for a bit of profit.

I'm going to bring this issue up with the other Adepts as well, and see if there are any ideas about tying up those loose threads.

cheers,

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
