The Perpetual Winter

ADD TO WISHLIST >

This is a one-shot designed for three 5th level characters, but with tweaks to the Monsters you could have lower/higher characters easily.

Our adventurers were on their way to the Spine of the World, an icy moutainrange in North Faerun when they stumbled upon the sleepy town of Nevasca. This small village has always been known for cold winters, but not blizzards for 6 months straight! What is possibly causing this extreme weather? And will the townspeople be able to help our heroes? After all, they've been desperate for reprieve from the snow, the cold, and the treacherous creatures coming from the Rey Khell Forest.

THANK YOU for checking out my published work, I cannot emphasize enough how much this means to me! PLEASE leave a review, comments, or any feedback, it is always welcomed!

This looks like a fun adventure and I'm thinking about using it for a birthday party where there will be potentially up to 10 players. I know this is designed for 5th level characters, but was wondering how many players was this designed for? Just want to know the baseline so I have an idea of how to scale up. Also, any ideas of how to scale up for that many lol?

Hey Errick! What a fun idea! I originally wrote it for 3-4 5th lvl players to be honest. But anytime I scale up or down for varying character levels or increased numbers, I do so with the monster's AC, Hit Points, and damage dice. Also, as the DM, you can add certain skills. Like if your bheur hag runs out of spell slots, just add another while playing. The players don't need to know exactly what each monster is capable of. Now the first combat encounter is going to be interesting. Maybe I would add extra monsters to even the playing field. Add another doppelganger or add another monster that is themed ice/undead. Like a yeti or a remorhaze or maybe an undead polar bear. Another idea is to have the players at a lower level because of their sheer number. I hope that helps and please let me know how it goes!

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
